Okay I summarized the ranking system so you can see how they got these rankings:

10 points for every NCAA Tournament appearance.

4 points for each NCAA Tournament win.

14 points for every Final Four appearance.

16 points for each national championship game.

25 points for every NCAA Tournament championship.

10 points for every NIT championship.

12 points for every conference championship.

6 points for every tournament championship.

6 points for independent championships (non-conference schools).

    All-time win-loss percentage multiplied by 40.

Ex: Overall win percentage = .86

    .86 x 40 = 34.4 points

Graduation rate. In an effort to be both accurate and fair, used the NCAA’s 2002 four-class graduation average. This average accounts for the 1992-1993, 1993-1994, 1994-1995, and 1995-1996 incoming freshman classes. A graduation rate is based on a comparison of the number of students who entered a college/university and the number of those who graduated within six years.

The four-class average was then multiplied by 10.

    Ex: NCAA Four-class average = .33

    .33% x 10 = 3.3 points

3 points deducted for any documented major infraction.

Programs with student-athletes drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft were awarded one point for each draftee.

Seeking experts in the fields of zoology, meteorology, sociology and Satanism, the ferocity of each program’s mascot was rated on a scale minus-five to plus-five.

Here's how LSU looks in the numbers:
    #50 LSU

    NCAA Tourn. App. X 10 17

    NCAA Tourn. Wins x 4 19

    NCAA Final Fours x 14 3

    NCAA Tourn Finals x 16 0

    NCAA Championships x 25 0

    NIT Tourn Champs x 10 0

    Conference Champs x 12 6.00

    Con. Tourn. Champs x 6 1

    Independent Champs x 6 0

    All-Time Win-Loss % x 40 0.57

    Graduation Rate x 40 0.17

    NCAA Infractions x3 2

    1st Round Draft Picks x 1 11

    Mascot Ferocity x1 5

    Total points 400.50

And by comparison, here is Kentucky:

    Total points 2024.54

Seems like this would skew things toward the ACC. They ran a championship for years before everyone else.

Little bit surprised LSU is as low as 50. I don't think of LSU having an average rank of 50 on a year in year out basis.

I would be guessing 35-40 at worst.

im not surprised we are ranked 50th of all time. Id guess thats about right. Also, the fact that LSU will be around a 6 seed this year that puts us in the top 25.

therefore, this means Brady has currently, more than doubled LSU's historical ranking. Ahhh, the good old days.

I guess this means everyone pining for the days when we lived up to our historical basketball prowess were yearning for the days of barely making the NCAA tourney. We are definitely a traditional power in basketball and should accept no less from our current head coach. If he can't lead us to national championships every year, he is not up to our natural power as a basketball powerhouse.,

    * end sarcasm *

This post should be a wake up call to all those that proclaim us a rightful national power in basketball.

I am very shocked that Duke and UNC are neither #1.

I am not that big into past history but both seem to always dominate the news the last 10 years.
