Actually, I think my generation did do bad. Look at society today. How many many people you see living off of free hand outs....Free condoms being handed out...free abortions. I often say the men of my generation failed as compared to those men before us. Morals have really degenerated. When I was young, if someone at a game yelled things like "that's my main mf-----, or called a young girl a bitch" one of those old timers would have stepped up and stopped it then and there...and the cops would escort them out. Then the school leaders would deal with it Mon. And being a student does not mean that you certainly will have a gameday ticket. Being in that student section is a "privilege" not a "right." Sure they are the loudest and do have the most fun. They should. They are young and have that energy. Have fun....but be respectful. You know LSU is already accused of piss balloons and all other sorts of bs. I say-don't give those people a reason to say, "I told you LSU fans are like that." And yes, the administration "can" do something about it. It would IMO have to come to a terrible situation, but they can 1) police it harder 2) charge full ticket price 3) and if they really couldn't stop it, they could sell that section for say two or three years as season tickets with the understanding that after that period of time, the student body seats would again be used for students on a trial basis. As far as the Iraq comment----------were they drafted? We were for VN. Think about that...How would you react if the draft was reinstated? And there really are laws against public profanity. I just hope this is just internet talk and no sanctions EVER have to be used. LSU has always meant "PRIDE" to me and I hope that never changes.:thumb:
You are new...........stick around and get to know Martin........he's pulling your chain................ Are you a Christian? Go to the other boards and talk to Martin....you can really get some talks going..ha
OF COURSE!!!!!!! You are in the perfect section for the WET TEE SHIRT COMPETITION. Trust me.............you don't want to be in the other sections!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i had to ear muff my 3 year old for most of the game. I am all for heckling but this is why auburn fans are on a mission to say we are the worse in the sec
Very well put, Col Reb. And thanks again to Friedriches (and many, many others) for taking a stand on this issue. Here’s an observation….after looking at this very long thread, I'm left wondering...who, if anyone, is willing to stand up and logically argue on behalf of what happened the other night? Other than the few apologists who have offered up the usual clichés about “being young, having fun, and students being students", I've not read one lucid argument on behalf of the "F-U-Spurrier" chant. Could it be that not a single one of the 15,000-20,000* who participated in that cheer can make a logical argument on its behalf? Certainly they are not all mere sheep, are they? C'mon, let's hear why you participated in the cheer and you now think that "F-U-insert name here" should become part of our regular stable of all time greats. Perhaps there’s an argument to be made here about the unity-building powers of mass-choreographed profanity? * My estimate of the number who participated.
That's the thing...it's not an every game cheer. I can't remeber the last time the student section UNITED in a F*** cheer. I think it just came from the pure hatrid of Darth Visor.
yes, they deserve awards for taking a stand on this vital issue. heroes. there is no "logical" reason to be offended. you just are. you cant be talked out of it, you have been led to believe that certain sounds in certain contexts hurt your feelings. maybe you should learn to deal with it. here is the solution, ignore it. and if you have kids, here is the solution: tell your kid that there are a few words you can say, but not in job interviews and stuff. then list off the top 5 or so of the off-limits words. i have never heard of a kid that was damaged by words. my experience is that we were all saying them as soon as we were out of earshot of our parents, the moment we knew they were bad. it didnt make us axe-murderers. the whole idea of some words being profane is just nonsense. get over yourself.
