I think someone needs a nap. Dude, this non-halo life is tearing you apart from within. I am saddened.

I will buy you this halo 3 thingy whenever its released. I feel its my duty even though i won't partake in the action.

Great point. Who cares about how "classy" a student section is. I kind of like our students to be the way they are. How are you going to change the way as bunch of drunk 18-22 year old kids act at a game. This is kind of a meaningless thread.

For some reason I completely forgot about the La Tech game. But that couldn't be some form of subconscious discounting.

If that were the case I would have forgotten about Auburn also.

I guess there is really no explanation and logic at all. I'm just gonna accept it and move on.

I have always loved the student section. Good natured ribbing is pure fun and there is always a place in sports for good smack talk.
I am embarrassed by their conduct last Saturday. They have gone too far this time. I hope that things get better in the near future. I would hate for Tiger Stadium to turn into an adult only theater. I was 9 years old when my grandfather took me to my first tailgate and football game. I have been a diehard fan ever since. It is an experience that I think all kids should be able to enjoy.

WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE IN PUBLIC!!!!! STUDENTS!!! (and others)

it appears you may not have much to do in the day either... (8899/48 = 185) may have taken you a while to figure out... (joking, i hope, at least, that isn't the case!)

Let me get in the same 'state of mind' that the student section was in when they chanted it and ill give you as logical an explanation as i can come up with :thumb:

Man I got in this thing late, really wanted to respond but just haven't had time.

First, big props Fried, sometimes I don't agree/understand why you say/do things, but you got a pair on ya and say what you think!

I will just completely avoid the generation thing since at 24 I really can't point at "them" and say they are bad.

I agree with most here that the You Suck, Cocks cheer was funny, and wasn't crossing that invisible line since most of the young won't understand, and just think we are talking about the team.

The F-U thing was terrible. It is crazy how fast it spread, probably cause it was so quiet (Will get to this later). We got there late were in the upper section, it started from a group of 20-30 guys near the scoreboard and spread across the top of the stadium. Everyone else under us could and it just spread. It sucked, there isn't much you can do but just try to stand there.

Of course this leads to my biggest complaint, which is kinda two fold: Where was the band, and where was the rest of the stadium?

The stadium one is easiest to say, but probably hardest to do, if the rest of the fans would actually cheer throughout the game you wouldn't hear the student section as easily, for example they drown out some cheers such as the "Kick their @$$" with "L-S-U", if the rest of the stadium was louder you just wouldn't hear the cuss words.

The band just disappoints me more and more. I read about red talking about tigerbait at the beginning and some of the older folks talking about the band/cheerleaders leading the student section, getting us pumped up, being organized, etc. Where were they during the f-u cheer? I mean COMEON, you wanna know how to kill a student started cheer? You play the freaking fight song, stadium entrance song, or the opening song. See how long that cheer lasts, people respect the band.

This has pissed me off for a few years now. I wanna scream at games when I am in the student section; I am pumped! Freshman year I just seem to remember a lot more songs that we cheered/danced to. Now they play dave matthews band, or some other random song, and hey that’s great, but the best the student section can do is clap in unison. The students seem to be more creative than the band, and that doesn't bode well when a bunch of drunk 18-20's year olds are forming the cheers.

They can fix this easy enough IMO. Start giving some sort of orientation to freshman showing the dances/cheers (Some kind of flyer would've gone a long way for me my freshman year) and mentioning in bold somewhere that these cheers are not accepted. Post big advertisements in the papers. The punishment? Simple, the band will just cut off their songs mid cheer if the dirty lyrics are used, and after 2-3 times of cutting off, just not use it the rest of the game. Trust me, the student section doesn't want to listen to DMB on a big stop, we want chinese bandits! (Example)

Damn long post, 2 quick points since i read 8 pages but not the last 2-3, and these points prolly been made:
-Beat the cocks shirts, can't cut us off for using the same joke as the university.
-The cheers in general. Where are the cheers for our team? I used to love cheering allllleeeeeeeeyyyyyy brussard over and over when he came in, but you never hear those types of cheers nowadays.

Anyways, yea! We need to shape up, cause that can't happen again. Thanks for starting it fried.

Rex C, to answer your question I just got to....

It pretty much was a sheep thing. I mean, it took me a few times to figure out what they were saying, and I didn't cheer for a few more after, but by the end I was cheering.

There isn't really much excuse, at first I thought it was inappropriate, but hey I wasn't sober and it was late in the game. The band wasn't doing anything (See above) and I was just standing there while everyone else screamed it; hey I could've tried to tell others to stop but thats not gonna happen.

BTW, the whole time I was thinking "Man its inappropriate to be cheering this, I wish there was a way to stop it" I was also thinking "Man, F- Spurrier!" :geauxtige

From what I understand, the drum major was told something about not playing anything. Even simply a first down cheer would have stopped it, yes.

However, it's disappointing to see that FU cheer last several minutes when a simple L-S-U cheer dissipates in less than 20 seconds from the students. How hard is it to chant LSU? VERY, it seems. After USC scored, there was a cheer, but it became so disorganized speed-wise, it fell apart.... :dis:
