I don't mind legitimate criticism and if you disagree strongly enough, then give me red. The rare times I've given red I've left my handle. No need to even it out, but appreciate the gesture. :thumb:
Good for you. I have received my share of dumb red marks as well. I call them "gigs." A gig is a military term. In basic training all trainees carry a slip of paper in his shirt pocket folded over the top of the pocket. These are called gig slips. When he screws up the drill instructer pulls his gig slip and the trainee is said to have received a gig. The idea is to get as few gigs as possible during the course of training. Too many gigs can get you held back.
Remind me to never go into the military then! I would want to be held back in basic for nothing! :thumb:
That didn't happen in Marine Corps boot camp... a piece of paper folder over the top of the pocket wouldn't have remained in place very long either. But then again, the other services' boot camps are not known for being nearly as challenging, so that could explain how a piece of paper would stay in place like that!
Are you serious? Start with www.google.com. I'll get you started: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/marinejoin/a/marinebasic.htm And: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/armyjoin/l/aaarmybasic1.htm
I'll provide the proof. I graduated from USAF Basic Training in Jan 88. I began in Dec 87. 6 weeks! That in itself is proof enough that USAF Basic Training isn't as difficult as the Corps. Add to the fact the "gig slips" that BB is referring to, and that's more proof. I know that's a USAF form of "discipline" in Basic, so I'm assuming BB is former USAF. Those "gig slips" were our push ups. Instead of "Drop and give me 20!!", it was "Give me a "gig slip". (That's not really what they were called, but I can't remember the USAF form #. It started with a 3, maybe 341?) USAF boot camp was a head game all the way. They wanted to weed out the weak MINDED. Other services do this as well, but tend do be a lot more physical in their training regimin, therefore also weeding out the weak BODIED.
