One thing I noticed about Friday night's game was that, aside from the 6 runs in 2 innings, Mestepay was getting a lot of ground ball outs, which is a sign that his stuff is working. The comeback win may have taken some pressure off and, although I was ready to bench him at 6-0, my calmer self now thinks there's still a pitcher in there ready to come out.
SabanFan I agree. Maybe by leaving him in Lane was able to find the correct release point, motion, grip or whatever it is that makes his changeup drop and his fastball move. Maybe like the Arkansas coach said, Smoke was correct in leaving him in on Friday. That would be a big bonus if he can get back to throwing like he did earlier in the season.
Thanks, JL. I was hoping for a series win, but winning one was better than getting swept at home. Given the coaching situation with the two schools, it was going to be an interesting series, no matter how it turned out.
