Alot of the reasons why the SEC does so-so in the bowl games is because the confrence is so damn tough. We tend to beat up on each other before we even get to the bowl.
I'm sure you can find this exact same quote on ACC and Big Ten boards... too funny!!!   The one thing we all have in common is great excuses when we lose. It's a poster's birthright, I think.
Let my qualify my last paragraph somewhat. When I say big Eastern schools, that is not exactly accruate. About the only "big Eastern" school is Penn State. I was referring to those schools east of California such as Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State. I should have said Northern schools.
I will always believe that if we had not been hit by Katrina we would have been playing for another national championship this year. Katrina caused us to rearrange our schedule so we had to play Tennessee before we were ready. Then we played 11 straight games without a break before playing Georgia in the SECCG. Without Katrina, there is a good chance both of those games - especially the Tennessee game - would have turned out differently.
Most national championship teams encounter some form of lucky break along the way or some other factor is involved that worked in their favor. LSU had 3 OT games and the ASU game that came down to a 4th down end-zone catch. And I picked LSU to win the SEC CG, but knew that Georgia was not going to be easily beat unless LSU played an 'A' game. The hardest thing for a team to do is bring an 'A' game into every game on the schedule. Katrina made that task tougher to accomplish.
If USC or Texas lose, will they drop below LSU. Texas maybe, USC less likely. I think Penn State will win. Ohio State won. Notre Dame, Oregon, Auburn, Georgia, Miami Florida drop below LSU. West Virginia may jump LSU. At best we are #3, at worst #6. I think #6 is more likely than #3.
LOL. The SEC was down this year. Kinda' rebuilding. Oh well. :nope: :dis: We still have a solid conference and it will only improve.
Is there any way for neither USC and Texas to lose? One of them will have to. :thumb: I don't think WV will jump LSU in pre-season polls. I think we'll end up around #4 or #5. With WV right behind us, they showed a lot of guts and character in their win over Georgia.
