    LaSalleAve when in doubt, mumble

    Ever hear of the Bass Brothers? There is a group of 5 or so oilmen in Texas that are staunch supporters of TCU. They got money.

    I don't know if he's a Bass brother but Kyle Bass runs a hedge fund out of that area. He was one of the few to predict the 2007 meltdown and made a fortune on it.

    Kyle Bass is a TCU grad, but no, he's not related to the billionaire Bass Brothers of Fort Worth

    Considering that Papa Phil is *only* worth ~$17B, it sounds like TCU might actually have a richer alumni group.

    That spawns an interesting question...who is LSU's richest alumni?

    Lod Cook, probably. Clarence Cazalot is right up there. 10 or 12 LSU grads are CEOs or VP's in oil companies.

    From the football media guide, some non-athletic (and likely loaded) alumni include

    Wil Cahoun, who was Executive Producer of "Friends";
    Pat Hewlitt, CEO of ExxonMobil;
    Reinosuke Hara, former CEO of Seiko;
    J. Howard Rambin, former CEO and former Chairman of the Board of Texaco;
    Thomas O. Ryder, Chairman of the Board for Reader's Digest;
    famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews;
    Delos "Kip" Knight, VP of marketing for eBay;
    Bill Conti, Oscar winning composer who's works include the score of the original "Rocky."

    Plus, as Red pointed out, Lod Cook, former CEO of Arco.
