You gotta see it for what it is! The Vols are scared! They knew coming into the season they couldn't likely beat both Fla & LSU back to back on the road. When the hurricane came up & LSU cancelled NT & then went away for a home game in Tempe, they were dancing in the streets in Knoxville for a moment, until the Skipper dropped the bomb on them. Come on into Death Valley, Vols! We'll be gentle! We Promise, lol!

Here is what I emailed the author:

A few points that you seem to have missed, and with all due respect:

    1. ESPN set the game time, not LSU. The game is a sellout and the stadium will be full.

    2. This isn't about inconveniencing Tennessee fans. Many more LSU fans (85,000) will not be able to get rooms than Tennessee fans (7,000). Any inconvenience is fully shared.

    3. LSU is not trying to make changes that will cause UT to have a disadvantage. LSU is trying to play the game with as few changes from the original plan as possible. We are trying to save our season.

    4. LSU has already had two games of its season impacted by the storm. We are now ready to play football at home again, the game will not be moved. LSU is not going to destroy its football season over hotel room availability and neither would Tennessee under the circumstances. You guys are dreaming if you think LSU or any other school is going to shoot itself in the foot to make a few out-of-state travellers happy.

    5. We have gone through an awful lot in south Louisiana in the last two weeks and nobody has been unaffected. We are getting our lives back to normal as fast as possible. Visitors from Tennessee are not victims. We know victims.

    6. However badly this disaster affects a few thousand travellers from Tennessee, when you compare it with the impact it has had on people around here it absolutely shrinks to insignificance. People at LSU don't really give a **** about your hotel reservation problems right now. I'm sorry. It won't be like this every year. You could cut us a little slack.

    7. Since when does a visiting team make scheduling demands to the network and the home team? It doesn't happen. First Tennessee offered to "host" the game in Knoxville. How kind. Now they're wanting to force the start time to be early.

    8. Tennessee is losing the PR battle by claiming to be a victim here. We've seen real victims aplenty lately and Tennessee ticket holders are not among them. Better strap it on, come down, and be ready to play a night game. Believe me, if Tennessee fans have ever sat in the sun in a south Louisiana afternoon in September, they will be glad the game is at night. It doesn't start getting cool in Louisiana until late October.

The only thing UT has to complain about are for the fans. The team is taken care of so the only inconvienence will be for the fans, that is if the hotels are still booked by the time the weekend comes around.

LSU team, personnel, and fans have had to make more sacrifices than any other school with the disaster. Athletes helping around campus, putting people up in their spacious apartments, etc etc.

The sacrifices of LSU in comparison to UT:

-The team had to give up their home opener and their warm up game so that in itself made the ASU game much more difficult and added even additional pressure to the team/staff and the fans.

-The ASU game was moved to Tempe, AZ so the team had to deal with playing a top 15 team as the opener with no luxury of a easy opener.

-The Fans had to sacrifice their season opener and most couldn't attend the away season opener and the ones who did had to make last minute plans put it all together.

-The team now has to deal with brutal stretch of games uncommon to any team in America to re-schedule the UNT game.

What does Tennessee have to sacrifice?

Their fans may be inconvienced by not having hotel rooms close to Tiger Stadium and may have to drive outside the city to get a hotel room. Or worse yet, some fans may have to drive all night to get home after the game. So it is OK if the game ends in late afternoon and the fans have a 10-12 hour ride home but the game ends at 10pm that will really make a huge difference to the fans in travel time.

UNT and ASU have been helpful considering LSU's situation and has worked with LSU to come up with compromises, especially ASU who were fantastic.:thumb: Yet you Tennessee people are all upset about the game being held 4-6 hours later than you would prefer or being held at the time originally scheduled by LSU and UT and ESPN.

Face it, the reason you want the change is you know it is hard to play at Tiger Stadium at night and you saw a window of opportunity for your team to have the game played during the day which is usually a little easier. So you decide to try and take advantage of the situation that Louisiana is in and make it work a little to your favor. How Pathetic? :cuss::angryfire

The State and LSU have made untold sacrifices during the last several weeks and gratefully other schools have worked with LSU but you are too concerned about fans having to drive home 4-5 hours later. Please! How pitiful and selfish?

This whole ordeal and whine festival just force me to turn my hatred of Florida Gators to Tennessee.

I have recently decided that Rocky Top is offensive to me. The lyrics " Rocky Top you'll always be Home sweet home to me" upset me because I now have no home to go to. It is the only right thing to do because I am a victim and I am offended that they would come into our state boasting about how they still and always will have Home.

The argument that the game not be played at nightime is morally corrupt. Hiding behind the banner of suggesting that "doing the right thing" is moving either the game time, or the game itself, is the real reason for the request. tenn. thinks it's opportunity to win is greater during the day than night. If tenn. thought otherwise, they would insist the game remain at night. tenn. would play in the Super Dome if they knew it would ensure a win. Using the tragedy that befell the Gulf Coast as an attempt to improve tenn.'s competitive stance is pretty low.
