Damn! Cutcliffe returns! He put some octane into that Tennessee O! They'll be playing that insufferable Rocky Top all game long when we go there if they're still highly ranked when they play us. I won't be looking forward to that. They held that Cal stud to around 50 yards, the Heisman hopeful. Rather impressive for a rebuilt defense. We'll see if they can keep it up against SEC teams.
The top tier of the SEC is very hard to beat at home and Tennessee is no exception. Last year was a fluke. Tennessee has been recruiting too well to stay down long.
I wouldn't bet the farm on the Tennessee defense this year. They have decent starters but they don't have a great deal of depth. Their improved offense made Cal have to play catch-up, but I don't think that the same will happen against the better defensive units in the SEC where the Vols are going to have to play field position ball. In other words, in a slug fest, they'll be hurting by the middle of the third quarter.
I think Cal is over rated and Tenn is much improved on Offense with Cutcliffe back. But the defense looked really good too and they were fast. They will give the LSU OL trouble if they play like that. If Chip82 is right about the depth then that will hurt them in the SEC. Tenn's RB's looked good though and Ainge looks like a different QB. Hey how in the hell did Florida get ranked in front of LSU? That is ridiculous.
They were co-champs with us and then they beat OU unless I'm mistaken? Believe me, I don't want to give them more than they deserve, rather give them less. People will point out they were winners in some of the stupid polls in 03!
wow one of those things everyone tries to do but never speak of. bet theres some pissed off coaches that had picked up cal's system and planned to use it.
