i dont know if UT comes out better after all this mess, but we really want them to be a good program because they play bama every year.

ESPN is reporting that he is their #1 target
Muschamp at the top of Vols' list - College Football Nation Blog - ESPN

Tennessee should at least give it a shot with Mack Brown as well. Brown was born and raised in Tennessee, and his brother is currently the head football coach at Tennessee Tech. Mack Brown's dad and grandfather were also both football coaches in Tennessee. He'll be 59 by the time the next football season starts and he's got to retire from Texas sometime (especially with this "coach-in-waiting" waiting to take over). If Tennessee has the money, maybe they can put pressure on both Brown and Muschamp, and come out with at least one of them.

If I were Muschamp, i would go. It's a good gig, they are desperate so they will overpay for him, and Mack Brown will be head coach at Texas for many more years. Seems like a no brainer. The infractions on Tennessee are minor. Nothing will come of it. He will be beloved there.

I agree with this. I hate the coach-in-waiting scenarios. They're bad for the currect coach and the one "in waiting."

I predict that Muschamp turns them down after given a raise and more promises by Tx, and... NUTT takes the job. The talent level at Ole Miss is way down, and the recruiting this year is a joke. Nutt would bolt in a minute if offered.

Yeah, Nutt's name has been thrown out in a few national columns as a potential UT target. A reporter from the Clarion Ledger contacted him about it and got this text back:

“People are making up stories (with) speculation and rumors. Go Rebs!”

Is Houston Nutt a candidate for the UT job? at Ole Miss sports

i don't think people give this enough merit. i say this all the time.

our florida is their tenn. for us, UF is a potential loss every year. we need UT to be strong to force bama to worry about that game every year.

imo, muschamp would be an upgrade over kiffin. they can't see it now but if they pull a guy like muschamp it'll be better in the long run for them.

the tx job is tons better. recruiting is so hard at Tn and it will always be tough going in the sec. all he has to worry about in Tx is Stoops and maybe Pelini. he's young, he should wait.

He's in his late 30's, maybe nearing 40. How long should he wait?

Mack Brown hasn't indicated he's leaving any time soon.
