Why wouldn't they just go after Dick Bumpas, DC at TCU? Seems like that would be more logical.

I heard that Chavis already told Texas to take his name out of the hat. Advocate jumped on the story a week or so too late.

Very old news. You are correct that Chief told them "Thanks, but no thanks".

If Bumpas made the defensive decisions they would. No DC at TCU will ever call the defense as long as Patterson is there.

Mack Brown could have a little trouble hiring coordinators. Suppose Mack decides to retire in a year or two (he had a head coach in waiting over there for 2 years). They bring in a new head coach and he wants his own people. You are looking for another job. That's not a good deal. That may be why rumor is Mack is willing to pay up to a million a year for a coordinator position, premium for having to relocate again (possibly) in a year or two. Chavis seems settled, at his age, why chase a job. He's making good money, should be set for retirement.

Mack needs to get some new assistants in to blame for anything that goes wrong at UT pronto. Otherwise, people may start to think that he is the problem.

The eyes of Texas need to stay off Chavis.
