Although I admit I have a very difficult time mustering up sympathy for University of Texas, I completely agree that Texas was screwed. If the shoe was on the other foot and LSU was lied to like that, I'd be very angry. Heck, just look back at what people were saying about Perrilloux when he commited to Texas in the first place. That being said, it happens all the time to all college programs. As cited earlier, Simms did it to Tennessee by going to Texas. Robert Lane did it to LSU two seasons ago by switching to Ole Miss on signing day. I don't agree with the practice, but it definitely isn't something that only UT fans have had to go through.
RP definitely handled this all wrong, like it was some kinda game to him. He definitely needs to mature, and mature quickly. I have no doubt he will. That being said, I am going to the local big fitness club here in Austin with an LSU shirt on to see what kinda reactions I get. 5 PM prime time crowd. Should be loads of fun. Wish I had a white marker or some chalk to write Perriloux's name on the back of my purple LSU shirt.
Have fun and don't get killed. Seems like a lot of Texas fans that don't read the message boards like Orangebloods and HornFans really didn't see this coming at all like many fans have and have been extra pissed off today. :yelwink2: I agree that it seemed like a game to him. I just don't think he totally gets it yet. He definitely does have a lot to learn.
Man, do you have a death wish? When I wore my LSU shirts (every time I went any where) right before and especially after the Sugar Bowl, I thought I was going to need a body guard the way the OU fans were acting! Let us know if you make it home alive!
Of course it was a game to him, probably much like football is a game. And it's not unheard of going after multiple QBs. Russell, Flynn, Lane at LSU. Or does Hybl, Heupel, White ring any bells? You're right about some UT fans being surprised...the most outspoken arrogant fans during the season have been non-responsive via e-mail today. Hmmm...guess the months of "How embarassing that LSU can't keep it's own best player" smack has their foot in their mouth.
You only live once! P.S. I just watched the movie Troy, so I got some extra motivation for being brave.
Huge, huge difference between the actual on the field football game and recruiting. By the way, Texas did go after multiple QBs this year. In fact, they offered three of them...Perrilloux, Daniel, and McCoy. They got McCoy, didn't get Perrilloux, and were really hurt with Chase Daniel because he would have been the #2 man behind Perrilloux...or so it seemed.
