Just for fun, here are some unbiased sights that give LSU claim to National Championship in 1908.

    Of course, here's a couple that don't

So I dunno but it seems to me LSU might as well claim it, especially as you have some schools such as Michigan who claim up to 11 or 13 National Championships when most places only give them about 7-9. Not only would it give LSU 3 National Titles, but also make them the first (outside of Michigan) now Div. I-A school to claim a National Championship.

    I mean, c'mon, LSU claims a title in 1935 for basketball....this isn't that much of a reach.

    They're not really that comparable.

#1 The next year the NCAA tourney was started, so it is modern age we are talking about here, NOT 20-30 years before what is generally considered "modern age".

#2 At that time, the preeminent tourney WAS the NIT, so it would make sense that whoever won that would be the champion. The NCAA doesn't recognize it but they didn't have a tourney to crown a champ then anyway.

Ah, OK, well I take back that comment then. I guess I didn't fully understand all what went on with the 1935 championship.
