Yep. Actually seemed to be hitting the hole harder than Ware later on in the game. I hope he continues to do so when we face the larger DLs in the conference. He can bust it to the outside once he gets past the first level, making him practically unstoppable. I think that Ford is the bigger home run threat, while Ware is more versatile (made a nice catch against the ducks). This could be a very special tandem in time.
Clemson is the last team that we should be biting. Remember Spiller and Davis? Like the guys that committed mass suicide?
No doubt Ford is the bigger home run threat. It looks like he is on the verge of taking it the distance at any moment. Ware is content with the 4 to 7 yard gains.
Yeah, he's a little smoother. Ford did a great job find holes and getting through them clean. I'd like to see him get the ball more. Looks like LSU has a great one two punch to lean on.
Another thing that was importnt was that our backs ran past the first level of defenders before taking it outside instead of running east and west behind the line. Many backs try and hit it outside before crossing the line of scrimmage to only be ran out of bounds or dropped for a loss. Uo tried to bounce outside but couldn't out run our defense to the corners. Our linebackers played great in that regard. Our backs run north and south. Great coaching in that affect.
I was skeptical of Ford this season, but he pleasantly surprised vs Oregon. His pass-blocking still needs quite a bit of work, but he sure can run it. Ford was put into better situations than Ware though. Ware's job was to wear the defense down pounding the line against a stacked box. He did a great job of it, and managed to get some nice longer runs in-between his many 2 yarders where there was no where to run. If there was a hole, he hit it hard.
and, Ware is really tough to bring down. kind of reminded me of Dalton Hilliard in that he never stopped driving his legs, and that was what Ware kept doing last night, driving those legs. Ford got his big runs when their D was tired, but Ware made them tire. i was impressed with both!
