Was hoping to start Friday. Saturday gives our pitching another day's rest but gives theirs the same. Poche and Lange need to bounce back from less than stellar outings.
It's time for the Super Regionals. The teams playing after 3 top 8 seeds ( NC State, Texas Tech and Stanford) fell are as follows: Friday starts- Vanderbilt (36-23-1) at No. 1 Oregon St. (52-4) Cal St. Fullerton (37-21) at Long Beach St. (41-18-1) Davidson (35-24) at Texas A&M (39-21) Kentucky (43-21) at No. 7 Louisville (50-10) Saturday starts- Sam Houston St. (44-21) at Florida St. (43-21) Mississippi St. (40-25) at No. 4 LSU (46-17) Missouri St. (43-18) at No. 6 TCU (45-16) Wake Forest (42-18) at No. 3 Florida (45-17) There is a metric ton of fantastic baseball right there, but only 8 can go.
They we're paired with the Texas Tech regional who, as a national seed, lost their regional. That vacates a national seed super and opens up a new host site, aggies being the higher ranked. They get to host this years coastal Carolina variety.
Since they were a 3 seed, it seems fairer to send them to 2 seed Vanderbilt and send Davidson to 1 seed Oregon State
It is the virtue of the regional selections. They pair teams to geographics so some smaller teams don't have to go through the expense of traveling across the country and by seeding. They pair super regionals at the same time. It is what it is.
