LSU/FSU 7pm Saturday. That was my guess but you never know. Figured we'd be the prime time slot and we are.
Now it's back on the Score app. First pick a high school shortstop from California whose name I have already forgotten in the minute or so since I've seen it. Through 9 picks still no Lange.
Alex Lange to the cubbies. 30th pick. Right abiut where predicted. Could be a closer due to only having 2 pitches.
I've never really understood MLB draft. It's heavily just HS kids being drafted then a lot of those taken in later rounds end up going to college instead right? So are the colleges only getting the leftovers from those who didn't go pro? Doesn't seem like there'd be that many ready to go into the minors straight from HS but I guess that's what all the minor leagues are for.
Wonder how many HS players with great potential go to the minors only to disappear in the system when some college would have done them good. Seems like they'd get more individual specialized attention in college and def more national exposure but I am not at all up on how the minors function as far as development and how much the major leagues really see their minor league systems. Maybe the big difference is being to spend your full time with developing yourself in the minors vs having classes and all the rules in college.
Lange was the 9th right handed pitcher drafted. His bonus money for the slot is projected at $2.1 million.
