Poche might have made a 1 run difference and we would still be playing. We'll never know. If Poche had given us the win tomorrow would be our wholdstaff against their wholestaff for the title with Lange on deck for Wednesday if necessary. I say we should have gone with the best we had vs the best they had. I would have loved to see game for all the marbles with a rested Lange vs a rested Macanudo Alfredo. They should start the CWS on Wednesday or Thursday. I'm surprised they don't. Would get better ratings than a midweek series. And the teams could go with their full rotations.
You don't count. You call for every pitcher to come out after ball 1. Your pen would have been burned out week 1.
Im with you we said so long before the game. We probably see Alfredo if we make it to the rubber match. At least in relief. But yes we will never know. This pitching decision with Reynolds probably works out if Newman was ready to go. But RR had faced no adversity the prior innings really so CPM was napping. He said he got too greedy starting the 4th. No that wasn't the issue. Having Bush warm after the bases were loaded was.
Never been overly impressed with Maneiri and that 4th inning tonight should have never occurred. His goal was 3 innings from Reynolds and he hit the lottery on the roll of the dice. Start Bush or whatever pitcher you decide to go with to start the 4th. You certainly did not want the lineup to go a 2nd time around vs Reynolds. All that being said, the way the game played out, it was probably a good thing we did not start Poche tonight. Had we lost 11-8, I would be pissed about not starting Poche. But with the limited scoring, not guaranteed we win with Poche. We have the clear advantage over the next two games. It's time to bring the championship home. I will say that the fact we scrapped and nearly pulled out the improbable tonight bodes well for us moving forward.
The most disappointing play of the night was the misread by the center fielder allowing runs 2 and 3 to score. It probably spelled the difference tonight between winning and losing.
It's better to rest Poche if you want a long outing imo. A Poche + rested Hess combo is going to hard for UF to beat. Their bats are not good. They had 4 runs on three walks in a row. We light them up tomorrow. Poche will be ready.
