LSU are #6, #6 and #7 respectively between D1, Perfect Game and Baseball America. So well put for a top 5 team taking 2 losses to 2 top 10 teams in 3 days, all offsetting the norm of a typical weekend series mega early in the collegiate baseball season. All things considered, it is hard to be upset over the weekend. Most people, teams, fans go into a weekend like this to make a statement. And though LSU may have had its sights set high, we fell behind on the weekend remarkably early when one of the best Friday night starters in the country had 60+ really shitty pitches and unable to finish the 2nd inning. It happens as it has a million times before and a million times after. The best have a shitty day and that there is part of the game. Humans being inevitably…human. Aside from Lange having an incredibly sour go, this is LSU baseball in almost every early season. CPM and his sidekick, Alan Dunn are gonna play early games and series like they always do. Leaving young pitchers in to find balance in their game learning under fire. Nothing will change that except Alleva wanting it all a different way. I believe in the philosophy of molding the mind of a young pitcher but I don’t always prefer the tactic of not even warming others, all just to not get in the head of the guy struggling on the bump. They are the ones that get paid to decide, we are the ones to pay for the sight. It is what it is and you can bet the results of the weekend will be a huge teaching moment moving onto the rest of the season. We finish strong and the eye remains on the prize which, this weekend did not truly effect. We tend to do better with a chip on the shoulder. How we bounce back will be the real story. Conference play kicks off here shortly and we are 3 weekends away from traveling into the mouth of truth by playing the Gators in their house. So, till then, get ready for a few more science projects with the pen and let’s hope these young guns that will be a little more battle tested are ready when the rubber meets the road.
Idgaf about baseball except w/l; looks like another maineri let down. I know it's too early to say that, but LSU athletics has got me down.
