Starting to look like they have had about enough of playing each other and ready to start the season. I think it is a good sign.

Curious to see who is gonna start left field. The only twin left has had a hard time keeping his job both fielding and hitting. Regardless of all the talent we have returning, we will see some youngins get quality starts. Bodes well for the future.

Didn't mean to imply it wasnt. But we got great kids to make up for losses in seasons to come. Pitching will be the question.

    2 Days…

All that is left to point out are the outfield. Lots of questions out there but one spot leaves us with no doubt. Center field bares one of my favorite freshman players ever in Mr. Antoine “Twonnie” Duplantis.

    2016: .327 BA, .419 SLG, .404 OBP, .76 K/BB (25/33), 2 HR, 39 RBI

What exactly is there not to love about this kid? Absolutely nothing. One of four players to start in every single game last season, He is not a slugger, but he is so fucking clutch it makes opposing pitchers sick. Never really gets on a streak, never really gets cold, just always gets there. Dude has wheels for a white boy, so center field is a place he was born to play. Look for growth and a higher ceiling for this cat as he goes full tiger on us this season.

Moving from 1st to right field is Greg “awe shit” Deichman.

    2016: .288 BA, .513 SLG, .346 OBP, 2.58 K/BB (41/19), 11 HR, 57 RBI

Well, not yet, but it is gonna happen. Deichmann broke his face with a fastball the other day putting him on the pine for a couple of weeks leaving everyone with a confused look at the corners of the outfield and ironically, the middle of the order. Could be either the twin Jordan in place or Breaux…or visa versa. Fucking who knows but the corners are gonna be open audition time as we see who really has the better bat come time for Mr. “awe shit” to get back in the order. So here’s to the rest of the next month of watching it unfold.

Next up is the ever improving Brennen Breaux. Gotta be a coonass with a name like that, so we will just call him coonie till he earns a better nick name.

    2016: .139 BA, .167 SLG, .297 BAA, 1.60 K/BB (8/5), 5 RBI

Night and day is the word on this kid from last season all things considered at the plate and fielding. Breaux has been in a battle for starting position in left with Beau. All things considered, it really comes down to line up and what kind of bat is needed. Breaux is lighter and taller, so naturally he can be a better fielder, but real time batting at the box is gonna tell whether he can go full tiger or fill tiger.

Waiting his turn in filler time is Louisiana’s best prospect player is Zach Watson. Kid has always been an infielder but he has wheels, fast wheels. So he will get his glove stitched a little higher and some reps in the outfield. Known for having a consistent bat hitting in the low 400’s in High School, this kid is our future, so give him a chance, fuggers.

    2 Days.

Few bolts and a plate in your face Monday to repair 3 broken bones. No sweat.

Junior outfielder @Greg_D07 practiced Wednesday with no problems. He will return to the doctor tomorrow and play Friday night if cleared.

Hope this isn't about his draft stock and or his overbearing dad. Special helmet being overnighted with the half mask like chinea wore. He fielded grounders today and will see live pitching tomorrow. One way to beat this sometimes phobia from being hit is to get in there before it becomes a thing. And you simply do what you were born to do.

    Play ball. Party on, garth.

@lsutiga would have stated something to the tune of "balls to the face".

There is a certain level of awesome there that I like. Hope it goes well for him though I would prefer seeing him in the DH role than taking chances in right field. He will hear it from the student section which, is all good.

    I think I forgot somebody.

    I did. Don’t bitch.

Catchers. The single hardest defensive position in the game. Who we got? Well, we got gamers. In order:

    2016: .242 AVG, .387 SLG, .358 OBP, 1.05 K/BB (21/20), 3 HR, 20 RBI

Michael “Pap’s” Papierski. Kid can ball. He might have been dismissed as the second coming of Kade “slap yo mama” Scivicque, but due mostly to his bat. Dude was a miserable at bat in 2016, but due most in part to swinging from both sides of the plate. That science project is done and he will swing righty hereon through the 2017 campaign and reports are he is so much more confident at the plate that the wait and see has much more hope for his place in the lineup. Despite my own criticisms of his defensive play (he tends to lose the ball in his feet), he sports a mighty .997 fielding percentage. That’s pretty big shit for a cat that has to block the beauty that comes from a few and the arsenal that comes from a dozen others. So fuck me for my lame criticism and let’s hope that Pap’s can bring the bat we all know he has in him.

    Nick Coomes

    2016 (LSUE): .359 AVG, .458 SLG, .684 OBP, 1.45 K/BB (48/33), 13 HR, 81 RBI

Nick comes to us from Eunice, (LSUE). Other than that and his reputation, not much to go on other than he is slotted above veteran Jordan Romero. Speaks volumes for his potential, but leaves us wondering whether he can hold the water he brings to the table. Expect some mid-week looks to get a better gauge on just what kind of Tiger Mr. Coomes can be. Swings a steady bat, has a glove, got Tiger blood in em…bring it kid.

    Jordan Romero

    2016: .297 AVG, .545 SLG, .378 OBP, 1.47 K/BB (25/17), 9 HR, 41 RBI

Not much to say here other than Ramero has a mystery bat, a sloppy glove and a questionable arm. At LSU, you put up or get your shit together trying. Due to an injured twin, he will get some DH time, but 3rd in the catching order says his shit is not together. Here is hoping he knocks the fuck outta something come his time at the plate.

    Rankin Woley

The future at LSU. But for now, break glass in case of emergency. That is all.

Nice to see LSU opening up with a series against the Air Force Academy & Army. Would like to see the Tigers play at the Academy. It would have to be later than February though.
