It should be pointed out that Shaq is 7''2 350+ and everyone listens to superman whether they agree with him or not.
This part made me just laugh out loud. The Auburn football team’s performance in the N.C.A.A.’s new rankings of student athletes’ academic progress surprised many educators on and off campus. The team had the highest ranking of any Division I-A public university among college football’s six major conferences. Over all among Division I-A football programs, Auburn trailed only Stanford, Navy and Boston College and finished just ahead of Duke.
Terry, I can't believe you of all people would make this claim with no facts to support it. It would sure appear that the Tuscaloosa News is in the thick of it. Otherwise why would would the slimeball Paul Finebaum have a guy forom the Tuscaloosa News on his radio show talking about it......several days before the NYT article hit the press. And did I mention that the Tuscaloosa News is owned by the NYT? Or that the bama homer Warren St. John is in the midst of it as a NYT employee. This is the same guy who just published "Rammer Jammer" about the gool ole days at bama with bear bryant. You bammies beter be more worrying about the canary Chris Keys who is singing to the NCAA as we speak. You LSU folks will remember Mr. Keys who originally committed to LSU, was declared inelgible to play high school ball and ended up at bama. Stay tuned. The bammers are so afraid of "The Thumb" they will do anything to get attention focused on anything negative at Auburn. Folks, this is little more than a squabble between two profs, one who was passed over for the Dept. Head and the other (the squealer) who didn't get the job. There are no NCAA violations here and it will soon be a non-story because what is happening here is going on at every major football school. If I'm wrong I will eat crow right here on Tiger Forum.
That's probably true, but it may end up shining a light in places better left dark. I'm not so sure. What happens everywhere is that there are crip courses at any university and athletes, failing frat boys, and professional students tend to find them. No big deal. But if it is found that athletes didn't have to actually do the work to get the credits, it will be a problem. It doesn't matter if other students took the course, too. They aren't recieving NCAA sanctioned athletic scholarships. The athletes will have to survive an academic audit. Let's wait and see what Auburns internal investigation reveals and how long it drags on. If it's a minor infraction, Auburns self-imposed penalties may placate the NCAA. If it is no infraction at all, but takes a year to settle . . . it may still scare some Auburn recruits who fear upcoming sanctions.
Disclaimer: I am not making Bama a saint when it comes to NCAA rules... However, why are the barners on all the forums trying to say Bama is the one trying to pull the barn down. This is rediculous. As far as Finebaum goes: Why do yall listen to him...You do know he could give less of a **** what he says. Yall think he is dumb, but he is really smart. He just gets a rise out of all his listeners and could care less about what he says. He is simply an entertainer, and really doesnt mean what he says. - like most journalists. (Sorry if I offended your common sense).
Without knowing for certain, I suspect you're correct, redd55. This is the last thing that Auburn needed. They've made a significant effort to rebuild the Auburn image since the SACS squabble in 2003. I do not believe there anywhere near the level of evidence to warrant an NCAA intervention. This is quite capable of being manged by the Provost's office. My personal "theory" about the whole issue can be found here: http://mb19.scout.com/fauburnfrm2.showMessage?topicID=125849.topic Auburn University allowed itself to become an easy target for these types of organizations. (Drake) The Administration should take a page from the Auburn playbook ..... it's okay to go on the offensive once in a while.
Croyle and others took these same lame courses...even admitted that Lienart had it tougher with ballroom dancing: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon...owl/stories/010106dnspobamasider.2d1ca13.html
OK, here we go. Chris Keys was questioned, months ago. Don't try to deflect this. He wasn't declared ineligible...but, dropped out of his high school...let's leave this one alone, shall we. The AJC is the next newspaper coming out with a story about all of this. It wasn't Alabama that turned you guys in...the two schools in the SEC were Vandy and Georgia...not to mention the other 5 from the ACC and Big East. FWIW, I've known about this hitting the news for a couple of months now...but, it wasn't because it was some story coming from the T-town news. I hope this doesn't amount to much...I wouldn't fear the NCAA if I were you either...SACS, is a different story.
