Best Linebackers - Ohio State, no doubt about it. Best WR's - LSU has the potential to have the best stable. We have a lot of them but none will put up huge numbers b/c the ball gets spread around. Best RB's - We have the most depth at RB. I can't say we have the best RB's or that any of them are the best. I would say Adrian Peterson and Reggie Bush would be called better than any of our guys. Although Addai looked great and Carey did a couple of Barry Sanders moved. Alley may become a national contender for the heisman in 2006 if our offense is any good. But our WR's and RB's are so full of talent that none will probably stand out as a Heisman candidate because touches are spread around to anybody. But no doubt with more talent at one position than others due to potential and depth at these positions.
Our WRs are ALL potential. Not one of them has proven much. To me, the amount of receivers doesn't appear to be affecting their numbers. Green has been consistent, but has never been a go-to man for LSU & has never put up that great of stats for a WR. Bowe is a player we've all been waiting on to be a star. He looked good against UT, but he just wasn't getting the ball enough to prove anything. Buster Davis has proven to be our most reliable player, even though he's dropped a couple passes this season & hasn't put up especially impressive numbers. Doucet & Carter... for being ranked so high coming out of highschool, they haven't proved a whole lot. Doucet has looked tremendous after the pass, but he had those few drops against ASU & has a lot of growing to do. Carter... a dropped touchdown pass against ASU & I don't remember him on the field against Tennessee. All of this goes back to the QB. Russell is still struggling & hasn't been able to effectively get these guys the ball. Who knows how well they could be performing in a different offense with a proven QB.
