Too young is a cop out for any team......

Its up to the coach to get them playing together and functioning
    as a team.....

Should I mention our Freshman RBs for example?
    Justin Vincent
    Alley Broussard

Was our rb's or other freshman too young to contribute this past season?

How about Randall Gay, I think he was the one that gave up a year of eligability to play in a few plays when the team needed him.

    Travis Daniels team player....

Our football team has chemistry and teamwork in mind...

freshman contribute just fine for Nick.....

Shyrone Carey while he was here....

    Who else?

Something the basketball team doesn't know anything about,
    teamwork and discipline

How come freshman don't contribute for John Brady?

Being young, we were outmanned and outgunned but...no excuse for being outhustled.

2 out of 2. The call was we would drop 5 of 6. After KY hands it to us Sunday that will be 3 of 3.

Brady needs to stop the bleeding...

I'm just not a fan of LSU's offense!!!

If that's what you want to call it. With the exception of ball movement at the top of the key our offense doesn't seem to create any open shots. Its either a wide open 3 that we keep missing or some player has to drive solo to the hole and hope he makes his first shot.

Don't tell me if we just knock some 3's down everything will open up cuz that's bullshit, this offense just sucks and you can tell the players are not suited for it.

Because John Brady doesn't coach football. Let's go over your post. Justin Vincent was at LSU since January and participated in spring and fall practices... so he doesn't count as a true freshman. Alley Broussard was a beast but he had limited knowledge of the playbook, limiting him to a few plays that he knew. You can't do that in basketball, as a player must know the entire offense and defense or be exposed quickly by the other team.

And it was Travis Daniels who gave up a year of eligibility to play for a few plays in the SEC Championship Game. Meaning that he wasn't ready the entire year to play until he was pressed into duty by injuries. So that can't count as contribution as a freshman.

Shyrone didn't play here as a freshman and played very little his sophmore year. From LSUsports.net:

    "FRESHMAN SEASON (2001)
A member of the team, but did not see any game action for the Tigers in 2001.
    SOPHOMORE SEASON (2002)
Saw action for the first time for LSU in 2002 after sitting out the 2001 season gaining eligibility ... Played in nine games with no starts ... Rushed for 97 yards and one TD ... Caught five passes for 41 yards ... Rushed for 68 yards and one TD on six carries in debut at running back in win over South Carolina ... Scored on a 13-yard run vs. the Gamecocks ... Had career-long run of 42 yards against South Carolina ... Started year as a wide out for the Tigers, but then shifted to the backfield following the Louisiana-Lafayette game ... Made the move to running back after the injury to LaBrandon Toefield. "

And to say that freshman aren't contributing is insane. Brandon Bass is 2nd on the team in minutes played behind Jaime. *Gasp* He is also 2nd on the team in scoring and rebounding. He leads all freshman in the SEC in scoring. He leads the team in blocks. Hell, he has the 2nd best FT % on the team and leads in FTs made. That seems like a contribution to me... but what do I know?

Tack Minor, Regis Koundjia and Darnell Lazarre have also played meaningful minutes on this year's team.

not much with an attitude like that......

Bottomline you can compare football to basketball, sorry......
Basketball is easier than football for 1 thing....

Freshman are effective in every sport across the country....

I could name you all the freshman contributing in college basketball if I watched the games but I don't watch every team.

Talking about Bass, stats don't mean sh*t....
Go look at the boxscores from the last 2 games, a bench player
could've had the same stats as far as i'm concerned.

Where was he the last 2 games, maybe 3......

I only went back the last 2 games...

Bass has long spurts where its like he's not even in the game!

If your happy with a team with no offense and players don't have
a clue whats going on thats your business.

This coach and this team is in troubled waters as far as I'm concerned.

    Remember Antonio Hudson?
    SEC Tourney MVP?
    Where the heck is he?
Is he too young to play well too?

The difference between a great coach and a decent coach is :
    1 Money
2 knowledge to put a player in a position to succeed.

Bradys recruiting is starting to be a question and I don't think
he has the knowledge to put players in a position to succeed.

Thats the difference between the top coaches and the bottom coaches...

Brady doesn't know how to do that and his recruiting goes up in
smoke with some of these players he's recruited that have been
released like that kid from Utah, this program is screwed!

    1 more thing,
I never said they didn't contribute, but as a team over all.....

    These guys stink....

    Antonio Hudson SEC Tourney MVP?

I thought this team would play better but Brady can't coach.

    Its obvious.....

Or is Hudson too young too?

Brady should be utilizing him, he has an SEC Tourney MVP that
is mostly non-existant like the freshman and the rest of the team

    So what is this?

Looking at Brandon Bass' last two games is very myopic. He is the leading freshman scorer in the SEC over the entire season. What makes these last two games where he performed poorly more important than the 20 he played well in? They all count the same in the W-L column.

He didn't have anyone else in the post to take double teams away from him. No post player in any league can go against double teams. Not Shaq, not KG, not Tim Duncan. All they can do is pass the ball out and hope their teammates can make shots.

Since you like football analogies... how many yards would JV have had if Mauck was injured and Randall (or a freshman QB) came in allowing the defense to put 9 guys in the box, challenging the new QB to beat them through the air. The team might win the game if the QB could come through (kind of like perimeter play in basketball, see the analogy?) but JV definitely wouldn't be rushing for 150 yards. Would you then blast JV because he wasn't contributing as a freshman?
