stop putting words in my mouth and you know exactly what the hell I'm talking about.....we cannot use the actions of terrorists to use as a standard for our own actions. that's a fools game. we are the united states of america, the most powerful nation on earth, and we do not need enhanced interrogation tactics to glean information from enemy combatants.

I sure did. I give Obama a lot of credit because I believe he deserves it. I also trash the Republicans because I think they deserve it. Not on every single issue but, at least the past 5-6 years, I have sided more with the dems because they have occupied the middle ground in our politics while the republicans have let themselves to be dragged hard right. american politics are cyclic and ten-twelve years from now that pattern will likely reverse itself as long as the repubs can get their act together.

water boarding, as is performed on our Navy Seals and any other service member that attends the Army SEAR school is not torture because those individuals are waterboarded under the understanding that it is a tactic that they might encounter but make no mistake about it, waterboarding is torture when used over extended periods and when the person being waterboarded doesn't understand that it is a training excercise.

Supa correctly pointed out that information gleaned from the "enhanced" interrogation tactics are often unreliable because the person being tortured will saying anything, even if untrue, just to make them stop.

I am not one of these people who believes in wars without blood because I know better and I understand the realities of it. It is ugly and I understand how lines get crossed sometimes during the heat of the moment and, frankly, I think we should be a little more understanding. But from a logical stand point, torture isn't our most efficient option.

No no. Torture is torture. It cannot be good for one group of people and bad for another.
