I do. I have a friend whose son was recruited by him and played for him. Says he is the best coach he has ever played for.

What I didn't know, was that Grimes was going to turn into the OC he has.

I'm confident that Woodward has this under control. He has avoided the messy public divorce that is usually part of a midseason coaching change. He has O on board with continuing recruiting. And we have time to evaluate and do this right. Scott has hit home runs in baseball and Women's basketball. He has been very successful making head football coaching changes at his last two stops. We are in good hands.

I’d imagine anyone would leave cinci if LSU offered. That’s why you coach to get an LSU offer. Kiffin is a punk he’s out. Shaw and Franklin are snobs and prefer Stanford. Fickell is the prize. What does Scottie think. Hopefully Mel is out.
    i just meant aranda.

The BLM thing was awkward kinda a screwup but nobody on this planet thinks O has a white sheet and hood in his trunk. He’s a born recruiter. What prob happened there was Baby Huey had ‘other plans’ with his lady and well .... we do have our priorities .
I think the biggest problem was the Pellini hire which ironically was what he thought was an easy fix .
Pellini came in clearly soured on coaching looking for a money grab , old school coaching methods too stark a contrast from the more calmer cerebral Aranda and then when the manner of the hire came about - not in person etc then team began to lose faith .
Word spread — Coach is still partying like it’s 2019.
We all had that teacher who wore jeans , let you call him by his first name and was ‘cool’ but he also was always late unprepared and inconsistent, so you soon figured out you weren’t going to learn much in his class .
Whether coaching or flipping burgers, the person in charge has to be the person in charge and be respected— not so much liked but respected.

I know Woodward hires big, swings for the fences and needs to get this hire "right". Any thoughts that he might try to go after a solid up an comer who has had success on the power 5 level, but not the Lincoln Riley's of the world? Matt Campbell, P J Fleck, Neal Brown, J Brohm, Gary Patterson or Pat FItzgerald?

Exactly stats ability no longer matter —- it’s the back story . Couple years ago in nfl draft coverage every player selected it was a bio on their dad being in prison their mom on welfare . It’s offensive to the both players and audience .

We didn’t actually run him off. He was OL coach here and got a promotion to OC going to BYU and stayed there 3 yrs. before joining Aranda.

It may be that he always had his eye on Franklin. My point is more that Franklin doesn’t wow me. He went 4-5 last year. He consistently has stints of poor play calling. And he’s never recruited anything special to PSU. I would stake my net worth that he’ll never win a championship, regardless of school. I need a coach who can win a championship. If there are no such realistic candidates now, then I would’ve kept O until one became available.

Minor correction, Woodward was @ University of Washington not Stanford.
