You know what would be an interesting stat to know, the combined records of all the teams Les has lost to in the years he lost those games. I bet that's pretty telling also. I mean save 2008 and Ole Miss this season has he ever lost a game LSU had absolutely no business losing to on his worst day?

Better, the records of every SEC team since Les has been at LSU...

Well, that would be nice but It's not Les who won those games, it's only Les who lost them remember?

If Auburn wins the NC are you gonna brag about being the only team to beat the NC? Maybe we should claim a NC for that feat? And if that's the case, I guess the Ole Miss benchwarmers can go to their grave knowing they beat the team who beat the NCs.

So, why does this ranking have LSU trail other teams with the identical record? Ranking them by latest win is meaningless when you are assessing performance over an 8-year era.

In NC wins, LSU should the tied for 3rd with Texas and Auburn.
In NC appearances they should be tied for 2nd with Florida, Auburn, and Ohio State
SEC Wins, LSU should be tied for 1st with Auburn, Bama and Florida
SEC appearances, LSU should be tied for 1st with Bama, Georgia, and Florida
BCS bowls, LSU should be tied for 2nd with five teams
BCS appearances, LSU should be tied for 3rd with 6 other teams.

The top tier is obvious and LSU is on it.

Should be some allowance for schools #1 and #3 having been caught cheating and had several wins taken away from them by the NCAA.

As I look at this ranking and read this thread I come away with one main thought. And that is LSU is one of the top 3 programs in the country over this run while playing in the toughest division and the toughest conference in America. While also having to play UF every year while #1 didn't. We also had to play #1 every year while #2 didn't. And we were forced to play that team twice one year!

So if add in SOS in this case then LSU fairs very well.

As a matter of fact I think it is pretty unbelievable the only national championship team that LSU has not played during this run is LSU.

More distant the wins, the less relevant they are to the situation today, IMO. Guess it kinda depends what you want the rankings to signify.
