The old tiger head was NOT original, that was the problem as far as LSU is concerned. It is a generic tiger mascot design used by colleges and high schools across the country. It is in the public domain and LSU can't copyright it. The new tiger head is all about "branding" and having a unique LSU-owned mascot logo.
i couldnt remember and i didnt have my "mike the tiger: the roar of lsu" book in front of me. and i almost capitalized the roman numerals, but why be proper about that when i am lazy with the rest of my typing? :grin:

yeah the 72-76 tiger was pretty sweet too. the reason i like the 77-97 is mainly because that is what's been on the helmets for as long as i can remember... well certainly that is the case since i am only 25.
