I'm convinced that some people will not be happy even if we run the table for the rest of this season. Seems like they'd be happier about being 'right' if the team folds than if we did something remarkable.

 

No. I'm not stupid. Intolerant of stupidity, perhaps, but not stupid.
As MD points out, if you had no active part in the event that was "embarrassing", then there is no cause for you to be embarrassed. You can be embarrassed for the team, but to be embarrassed as a fan, means simply that you have too much invested in fandom. I'm going to Caifornia next week and will be working with a huge USC fan. I'm sure I'll get needled since I've debated him many times on the LSU-USC subject, but I assure you, I will not get red faced and ashamed because LSU has a loss and USC doesn't. LSU's performance has absolutely zero to do with me. Then again, I don't go around pounding my chest and proclaiming for all to hear that "we" are the best, or "we" are going to kick your ass. I guess that's where some get their manhood batteries recharged. I do it by providing for my family. LSU sports is a (mostly) pleasant diversion, but it's not who I am.

 

SF has read me the riot act on being 'embarassed' since baseball season. I tell you, he makes some damn good points. I'm ALWAYS proud to be a Tiger, no matter what.

 

Just consider it "continuing education". :wink:

 

Don't let him fool you. SabanFan is just as crazy as the rest of us. He just won't admit it. I can see right through his veiled attempt to be a mature and reasonable fan.

Might as well drop the embarrassment debate. We have gone round and round about this a few times in the past. It'll get you nowhere. It's the use of the word "embarrassed" that is throwing SabanFan and MD off. They're taking it out of context.

 

I was young once. I truly understand how some people take it personally and let an LSU loss affect their day to day attitude. I just feel like I should point out the folly of it in hopes that they will find nirvana as I have. :thumb:

 

To the Gator fans that are coming to kick LSU ass and find chewing gum__________ Just remember this, your chewing gum can usually be found stuck to the "bottom" of the stadium seats. And you can find "all the LSU ass you want" sitting on the top of said seats. Just try to remember top from bottom or you may wind up "gumming that ass."

 

It is embarassing, b/c i am an alum of the univ and the athletic program is a part of the univ. I am just much a part of LSU as the players and coaches are. and we have losses like uab and miami of ohio, it is a little embarrassing b/c you know you catch a ear full from everyone from the people you work with to your relatives.
