If the treaty negotiated by Obama's stooge John Kerry actually goes into effect it's only mater of time before Islamic Iran is able to produce nuclear weapons. Obama will go down in history as the greatest appeaser since Neville Chamberlin.

We are the United States. Iran is a 19th century country led by 9th century thinkers. This is the way we should have done it:

    1. Iran will release all Americans, Europeans and Israeli citizens currently held in their prisons. This will be done before any talks continue.

    2. Iran will not be allowed any nuclear reactors. Not now. Not ever. The nation bordering Iran that is most friendly to the US is Turkey. Turkey will build a nuclear reactor on Turkish soil to be paid for by Iran. All costs including materials and labor will be paid for in full by Iran. Turkey will use the reactor to generate power that will be sold to Iran by the Turks.

    3. Iran will be allowed no centrifuges capable on enriching uranium. None. Not even one.

    4. The United State shall have the right to inspect any facility within the borders of Iran with no notice whatsoever. This includes military facilities, universities, research facilities, refineries, industrial plants and even extending to bunkers which may exist bored into mountains.

    5. Any incident of state sponsored terrorism by Iran will trigger the re implementation of the sanctions and Turkey will cut off the sale of electricity to Iran.

    6. Iran will actively seek out any terrorist activity within its borders and aggressively eliminate persons involved. Further, Iran will freely share any such information with the USA, our European Allies and Israel.

All of the above is non negotiable.

This is a historically shitty agreement. I think Iran may be in better shape than ever. Horrible deal.

What nonsensical political claptrap, even for you.

It's always been a matter of time before Iran or anybody else gets a nuclear weapon. And let's be clear about one thing. We have NEVER been able to stop any nation from obtaining nuclear weapon. It can't be done. We were not able to stop our major power enemies the Soviets Union and China from obtaining them. We were not able to stop our major power allies France and Britain from overtly obtaining them. We were not able to stop small countries like Israel, South Africa, India, North Korea, and Pakistan from covertly obtaining them. If a country is determined to build one, it is only a matter of time, money, expertise, and relations with the rest of the world.

The only way we could prevent Iran or anybody else from creating nuclear weapon is to go to war, invade them, defeat them, occupy them, and stay forever. How well has any of that gone for us lately?

Without the deal Iran can theoretically make a device within a year. Weaponizing it and creating an effective delivery system is quite another matter, North Korea hasn't managed that part yet. With the deal, it puts off Iran from creating a weapon for 10 years, perhaps 15. This is a good thing. The only alternatives are to let them have it within a year and try to keep the coalition partners from bolting from the sanctions (and Russia and China are ready to do so already). In reality we can't maintain international sanctions forever and that won't stop them anyway, only punishing them with limited effect and diminishing returns. or we can go to war with no partners again and bankrupt ourselves trying to defeat and occupy a bitterly hostile land. How well has that worked out for us?

It should not be forgotten that Iran is no existential threat to America. Even with a weapon, they would be no threat without a delivery system. Even with a delivery system, they are no threat for the same reason that the Soviets and the Chinese have never attacked us. It would be national suicide and they know it very well. For the same reason Israel is not in danger from Iran because they have over 200 weapons and the means and will to deliver them. Pakistan already has an Islamic bomb, over 200 of them and they are a far worse threat to America, being the home of the Taliban and Al Qaeda. And they are not a danger to the US or Israel either.

Iran desires a nuclear weapon for one reason . . . so that they also have a deterrent capability from their regional neighbors, Pakistan and Israel. I say Pakistan and Israel can take care of themselves quite fine without any more of our treasure and lives.

Still, they have a young and restless population that is badly impacted by the sanctions. They are willing to forego the bomb in return for sanctions relief, which cost us nothing. All we had to do was twist their arm enough to get what we needed.

Not true in the least. Iran is a fully modern country with industry, commerce, modern infrastructure, and universities. It is well-educated and increasingly frustrated by its leaders. Those Revolutionary leaders are indeed medieval in their outlook and the younger Iranians tire of it. They had to suppress street revolts just a few years ago and another revolution is not out of the question. 10 years could bring us a much more amenable Iran. This deal has divided them, which is always good for us. We should always try to divide them and not drive them together like war would.

Well you would absolutely suck as a negotiator if you imagine that this most absurdly pie-in-the-sky bargaining position would be acceptable to them. No sovereign country on the planet would agree to these conditions. Why should they? It's a childishly ridiculous plan. They would just say "make me". And we would have no choice but to acquiesce or go to war. Only by conquest can you make a country do anything like that. The deal is better than both of those options. It gives us time and time is on our side, believe me.

All you want to do is wage another un-winnable middle eastern war against a country that is no serious threat to us and it would bankrupt us in the effort. We need to pick our fights much more carefully than this. Russia and China are the real enemies. Right now they are joining us in keeping Iran's head down. We need to stay out of middle eastern wars and let the rags kill each other like they have been doing for millennia.

When I posted this I wondered how long it would take you to jump on your Arab charger and come to the emotional rescue of your knight in tarnished armor.

There is no need for negotiation. If they have nuclear facilities, blow them up. No need for ground troops. Israel did it to Iraq. If they don't agree to our terms keep the sanctions in place. The sanctions are preventing Iran from selling the billions of dollars of oil they could be pumping. They really want to be able to sell it. To do it they should have to be willing to pay our price.

No. I'm saying that's what he should have done. You don't fold a royal flush to a pair of dueces.

It's far simpler than that. I just shoot down poorly-thought-out bullshit.

They are buried a half mile deep, it would take several nuclear weapons and then we lose our allies, make enemies of anyone downwind, including Russia, and perhaps start a world war. Another ridiculous solution.

That works for the short term, but the Russians, Chinese, and even the Europeans are dying to conduct business with these guys. The UN sanctions won't hold much longer anyway. The Iranians know this, which shows you how desperate they are to get them lifted sooner. And remember, this only lifts the sanctions put in place for the nuclear weapons issue. Other US and European sanctions remain in place for their support of Shiite terrorists and holding diplomatic hostages.

No nukes needed. We have 60,000 pound bunker buster bombs. Used in tandem a few of them should do the trick. Russia is not going to get into a world war with us over Iran. Didn't all those years of the cold war teach you anything about Mutually Assured Destruction. Unlike ragheads, the Russians care about whether they are incinerated. The would rather have a a hot tennis player or even a fat female Russian shotputter here on earth than a bunch of virgins later.

Not on this bunker, it's under a mountain. Our biggest bunker buster is a 30,000 lb. penetrator which might take out the entrance ramp that we know of. To really take it out we would need a nuclear penetrator and they are very dirty bombs.

Over Iran, no. Over nuclear fallout on their territory? They would definitely respond in some martial fashion.

    Typical BengalB logic.

    What a shock!
