This is tragic on so many levels. Joe P has been coaching PSU since before I was born. I'd like to be able to remember him for what he meant to CFB prior to this stuff but I just can't shake it. Truly sad.
Tragic is the perfect word for it. And to think how easy it was to avoid all of this. The decisions we make in life. He's probably made over a 1000 good ones. Wow.
I'm not going to label this as tragic. What happened to those children is tragic. What happens to Joe Paterno for not doing anything is justice.
I'm amazed how many people up here in PSU country are unhappy about the trophy thing. It clearly had to be done.
+1, +1, +100, LaSalle! BTW, in terms of years in the conference, Penn State is the second youngest school in the Big 10. Why was Joe Paterno's name on the trophy to begin with? Fielding Yost, 10 conference titles, 6 national championships at Michigan Bo Schembechler, 13 conference titles at Michigan Woody Hayes, 13 conference titles, 4 national champions at Ohio St. Jim Tressel, 7 conference titles at Ohio St Bennie Bierman, 7 conference titles, 4 national championships at Minnesota Bob Zuppke, 7 conference championships at Illinois Joe Paterno, 3 conference championships. Why not put Tom Osborne's name on there, too. Nebraska's in the Big 10.
Agree, which is why "on so many levels" followed. To find out that he (Joepa) transfered ownership of his house over to his wife a month or more prior to this all starting just about tells you everything you need to know. Bet Tiger Woods feels pretty good about himself right about now.
paternos legacy went to the ****ter as soon as this story broke. the rest is just a formality. JoePas been at PSU so long, Tom Landry was playing defensive back for the giants and Vince Lombardi was an assistant at west point.
