Most encouraging news I've heard regarding Kiko Alonso! ........many details on any of them. And no, there’s been no official announcement yet about Alonso’s status for LSU; I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t play, though...... This was a Rob Mosely response to a blog posted last week. Mosely is the Oregon football reporter for the Eugene paper. Nothing at all official, but he is knowledgeable, and he doesn't usually shoot his mouth off. So, I take it to be a good sign. Kiko at LB would solidify things nicely. Unrelated story, After injuries, the Ducks are in trouble at tight end. Duck Reports .....It’s all those things, sure. But it’s more, and bigger. It’s only the third time two teams ranked in the Top 5 of the preseason polls have met in a season opener on a neutral field, and it’s been 27 years since the last time it happened. And the point is, these games are pretty common — in bowls. That’s what this is: A bowl game. We’ve got No. 3 vs. No. 4, West Coast cool vs. Southern passion, Chip Kelly’s genius vs. Les Miles’ madness, Pac-12 sizzle vs. SEC superiority.... "Schroeder: Ducks in for ol’ fashioned roof raising" | Oregon Football with Rob Moseley | The Register-Guard ....Not only is Nick Aliotti unsure of when he’ll have his best cornerback and one of his best linebackers available, the Oregon defensive coordinator can’t be certain of which quarterback the Ducks will face in their opening game less than two weeks from now.... Duck's daily update "A look at Oregon’s uniforms for the Cowboys Classic" | Oregon Football with Rob Moseley | The Register-Guard The Nike video in the above link won't work, see that video here. GoDucks.com - The University of Oregon Official Athletics Web Site ....Wednesday was the final two-a-day session of August, and coach Chip Kelly’s team will be in Autzen Stadium this afternoon, with game officials present, for one final, crucial day of evaluation.... I'm a homer and like LSU in this game, despite all the turmoil. I feel even if everyone in question is suspended we still have the advantage in the trenches, despite being spread a little thin. I expect a great game and Oregon to push us, with our overall athleticism and depth pulling it out late in the game. LSU: 31 - 24 I would be interested to see how Oregon fans see their PAC - 12 schedule playing out and who you are worried about on your schedule post LSU? I'm worried about Bama, Arkansas, WVU in that order for us. Would love both teams to go undefeated after this game though, especially with all the bad press building up to it! Can't wait until next SAT....GEAUX TIGERS!!!
Canzano mouths off about LSU Darth's post on another thread caused me to check on this: Canzano: Les Miles' handling of the Jordan Jefferson case reveals LSU's values | OregonLive.com .....Oregon made a difficult decision prior to last season, dumping returning starter Jeremiah Masoli after repeated run-ins with the law. Coach Chip Kelly did the same this offseason when star corner Cliff Harris embarrassed the program with that 118-mph traffic incident. I've banged on Kelly when I thought he was too soft, or inconsistent, or sending a poor message. But what I'm hearing from Miles right now is laughable. What we're really talking about is a program's willingness to announce to the rest of us that no one player stands above the program. Anyone think that's true at LSU today? ...... This chump has been hammering on the Ducks for years, at least now you all can see what a phucker he is. He won't help LSU's image in the northwest any, but that's no big woop to you guys. He's slanderous though, insulting too, gits my goat. I know how he is about the Ducks, Glad I've hung out here long enough to know that he's also full of sh!t about LSU.
The problem is guys like Canzano ( and guys like him are everywhere ) is that they aren't reporters who know the sport and have analytical acumen. They're opinionated blowhards who have a bully pulpit to spew their opinions with no accountability from their employers ( who are greedy bastards only interested in the $$ that ratings bring). These guys are so dumb and unprofessional that they wouldn't make good posters on the Oregon and LSU forums. They are like little Jerry Springers pimping controversy on a national platform. Ironically, I don't blame them at all for their stupidity and lack of intellectual honesty. They were born that way and there's not much they can do about it. I blame this on the media outlets themselves who offer these fools a national (and international) platform. But most of all, I blame us...the general public...the sports fans...the end result of "the dumbing down of America". After all, we don't hold the media accountable. We don't get rid of cable We don't demand honesty, integrity and excellence from the press. We're responsible for the high ratings and market penetration these idiots have. We don't read newspapers any more. WE just really can't get enough of the "Springers and their Shows".
Concise AP report, just the facts. LSU fans might be interested in the comments from Duck fans at the bottom. "LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson suspended" | Oregon Football with Rob Moseley | The Register-Guard
University of Oregon and Track Town USA Hayward Field has hosted numerous Conference Championship, NCAA Championship, and USA National Championship, track meets. The annual, “Nike Prefontaine Classic”, honoring the Oregon track legend, has recently been added to the Diamond League, which is the world’s premier professional track association. A series of very high purse, track and field meets. The Diamond league consists of: Birmingham, England Brussels, Belgium Doha, Qatar Eugene, USA Lausanne, Switzerland London, England Monaco New York, USA Oslo, Norway Paris, France Rome, Italy Shanghai, China Stockholm, Sweden Zurich, Switzerland The University of Oregon hosted the US Track and Field Olympic Trials in 1972, 1976, 1980, and 2008, and will host the 2012 Trials, in preparation for the London Olympics. With temporary seating, Hayward Field’s capacity is more than 21,000. In 2008, with the “Trials” sold out, Ticket less fans, for a small cover charge, gained admittance to a beer garden, which adjoined the track stadium. Complete with Jumbotron, the beer garden was enjoyed by an additional 11,000 people a day, throughout the 5 day event, (the beer garden was even more fun than being in the stadium). This is one of the most exciting things I've ever seen. But then again, I'm a Duck fan. (If you're impatient you might want to skip ahead to the 2:15 mark, at that point the 3 Oregon runners trail the field). 2008 USA Olympic Trials, Eugene Oregon [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49Fwxo50ZiI&feature=related"]2008 Olympic Trials 800m - YouTube[/ame]
