The coaches have not coached a complete game yet, but damn, they are still unpacking their clothes. Give em some time and lets see what is in the whole playbook before we bitch too much.
In 2003 there was much uproar when OU lost, with many critics claiming if you can't win your conference you should not be playing for the national title. Was that rule ever implemented? If so we could have some very interesting developments, with a loss to UCLA knocking USC out of the picture (however unlikely). Otherwise I am sure they would drop to the top of the one loss teams, still ensuring a title shot.
Sorry, but unless the media favs of Texas and USC lose, no SEC team will even be considered for the NC regardless of their record. More so now that the SEC has no undefeated teams.
The reason the passing was working was because Bama knew we would still run the ball. Their LBs drop back in converage a lot, but they weren't tonight because they ahd to make sure JV didn't bust one. Even averaging 3ypc is enough to keep them honest.
Of course one of them has to lose. And that's the way it should be. No way a 1-loss team should be in the title game over an undefeated team from one of the big five conferences. (I don't count the Big East) I look for LSU to move up to #4 in all human polls this week, and #5 in the BCS behind Miami and Penn State. I think if we win out we move ahead of Penn State on our own, but Miami and one of the top two will have to lose for us to get into the title game. But like islstl said, no matter what, if LSU wins out, we go into championship weekend with a chance to go to the Rose Bowl. That day USC plays UCLA, Texas plays most likely Colorado, and Miami would play Florida State. If two out of the three lose that day, LSU would be in. Of course that's assuming that none of them lose before that weekend.
