Besides myself, I don't know how many Billy Joel fans are on the board. PBS recorded a 90 minute tribute to him. Here's the link. http://video.pbs.org/video/2365395049/
I saw Billy Joel in 1973 at the LSU Assembly Center when he was the opening act for The Beach Boys. He came out and the first thing he said was "Have you ever heard of me?" and the full-house audience offered a collective "No." "That's what I thought, but I'm going to play some tunes for you and the Beach Boys will be out soon". Then he just blew everybody away for half an hour. I've never before or since seen an opening act brought back for three encores. The LSU Pop Entertainment Committee immediately starting trying to book him for a solo concert in the Union Theatre. But "Piano Man" was released that month (which was why the record company had him out on the road) and it went straight to the hit list and he never was an opening act again. He started headlining big arenas and it took years to get him booked into the PMAC.
When I first got this on vinyl I played it so much I wore it out and had to buy another copy Traffic - The Low Spark of High Heel Boys
Back to Billy Joel. I always liked this video of Uptown Girl with Christie Brinkley. Its a bit cheesy but she is hot
