I hear you and I understand where you are coming from, BUT, you are forgetting one HUGE thing here: our own Coach Charlie McClendon was mentored by Coach Paul Bryant, both are from Arkansas, they were friends until Bear died, they were always on very good terms, and they held each other and their programs in very high esteem. Coach Chollie Mac would be horrified if he learned that LSU fans have bad feelings towards the Bama Nation. As such, I declare that you are in the minority in your opinion. Look, I'm old enough to have witnessed many LSU v. Bama games. The fact that LSU lost more than half of those games is terrible, but that is no reason to hate the other team! In all of the years of LSU v. Bama, the coaches and players of Alabama have never acted disrespectfully towards our school, our logo, our fans, or our band, etc. It is utterly IRRATIONAL for LSU fans to have bad feelings towards the University of Alabama football team. Now, should LSU fans despise the Barners and Alabama Polytechnic Institute? Of course! How many times have THEIR fans and THEIR players done any number of things to disrespect LSU? Many times. My friends . . . the Enemy of my Enemy (Auburn), is my Friend. As such, Alabama is OUR Friend. So, I say to you, my fellow LSU Faithful . . . let us respect our worthy adversary, the Alabama Crimson Tide. Coach Cholly Mac would not want it any other way. Here's a nice Cholly Mac website for ya'll to enjoy. Thanks for listening. http://garrettmasters.tripod.com/CoachMac.htm
I know him personally, and I can assure you that Bayou along with the majority of Alabama fans know Coach had his faults. We all do. Our tradition didn't start with Coach Bryant, and it hasn't ended there either. You find it tedious when you come across fans that think the "embodiment of all things good can be found in {edit}Coach Bryant?" OK. I also find it tedious when rival fans fall into their own mantra of "cheater" accusations without giving respect where it is due. I'm not categorizing you as one of those fans, yet. A continual trend of losing will color objectivity consistantly and unknowingly. FWIW, XXLTidefan. You won't find me taking shots at Dye. Simply because, when John Croyle started the Big Oak Ranch for abused children the two largest contributors were Coach Bryant and Pat Dye. Last, but not least. I see a lot of people pointing to coaches who played at Alabama and dealt with the NCAA. Yet, it's seldom mentioned how many players under Coach Bryant have made successful careers in coaching not to mention had significant impacts on society.
Don't you all know... everyone in college football cheated pre-1980... it has just been in recent years mainly after SMU got the death penalty, that teams have started running (semi) clean programs.
Uh, given the fact that LSU won the national title in 2003 as a one-loss team and made a 2004 BCS debut some 6 spots higher than they did in 2003, I want LSU to beat Alabama to make this a special season for LSU players, coaches and fans alike. Leave the "ruining" of Bama's season to the no-hope having Ole Pisses of the world. We have more important business to attend to these next few weeks.
There is some truth to your statement here, I think. Perhaps it is entirely true . . . I don't know enough to say for sure.
bama shoulda gotten the death penalty for its sanctions the last 10 years yet the ncaa doesnt have the balls to do it. they pick on SMU to make an example while the barry switzers and bahrs run rampant. dont get me started on the phreaking No Clue At All. p.s. SCREW BAMA
I hate Bama. They ruined so many of Cholly mac's years and many times we had the better team on the field. Bear and Cholly may have been old friends but don't think for ONE minute Cholly Mac, being the competitor he was, didn't want to even up the score agaisnt his old adversary Bear Bryant. it was a common Joke back in the day. a bet, a coin toss amongst friends as to whether or not Bear would bring his Ref's to tiger stadium again this year. I do respect coach Paul Bear Bryant and the legacy he created at Bama, but that's even more of a good reason to WHIP THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF THESE HOLIER THAN THOUGH, SELF RIGHTEOUS, POSERS FROM ALABAMA! I remember seeing us beat Ole Miss one year 45-0, I think was the score and during the forth Qtr Ole Miss fans were chanting "go to hell LSU" ......LSu fans started a cheer "give us Bama" Now is the time to even up the score. The Bear is dead and Cholly Mac is watching from on High... let the Tigers make Old Bear choke and old Cholly Smile by STOMPING A MUD HOLE IN BAMMERS AZZZES! :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
