UAT beats LSU. Auburn then beats an undefeated bammer team in the Iron Bowl to clinch the SEC West. :D

You are correct sir, as anyone who read the link posted by Proud Tiger knows!
As evidenced by the Logan Young Trial http://www.decaturdaily.com/decaturdaily/news/050203/trial.shtml

Conversely, the opiate of winning can cause some to forgo their principles to maintain a disguise of excellence.

A good work doesn't cleanse a soul, repentance does. I will not denigrate the work of Big Oak Ranch, but financial contributions do not warrant a pardon.

You ask me to profess my admiration of a man who consistently belittled and voiced his contempt of my University? Not in this or any other lifetime.

Sure I'd like to beat Notre Dame, don't get me wrong. But nothing matters more than beating that cow college on the other side of the state.

I particularly like how he would bastardize the bowl system for the benefit of ua and his cronies:

I still as of this day do not understand why your venerable institution ran off Bill Curry. Wasn't he winning? Wasn't he running a clean program? Y'all treated him like some of our "fans" are treating our kicker.

Every closet has it's skeletons, but the legacy of ua is putting people under the thumb and keeping them there by any means possible. Once you deal with that we might actually have a discussion rather than an argument.

If you consider this conversation an argument, I'm wasting my time. If there is one thing I will not delve into, it's an argument carried on within a thread on a message forum. I've been in this "fan message board" business to long to waste my time in such trivial matters.

Logan Young. If you can tell me a way to control boosters, I'd love to hear it. Like it or not, there was a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on with that situation. Two rich, drunk old men going after each other. I've never, ever proclaimed Young's innocence. However, the way the NCAA went about their investigation was suspect, to say the least.

Bastardize the bowl system? That article begins talking about how Bryant got his Kentucky team to the Sugar Bowl by talking his way into it. How on earth could you come up with that description on how he was able to get Bama to so many bowl games? You've lost me, completely.

    ON Curry:

He wasn't run off by the Bama faithful. You can read this and chose to believe it or chose not to. It matters little to me.

When Curry was working on his new contract, Ingram put a proposal on his desk that decreased his salary and made his contract more contigent on uniform and shoe contracts. The money would have been greater, but Curry wanted more of a "sure thing." As you can see looking at any coach in any sport in the NCAA this contract is the norm now a day. It just so happens, that Ingram was one of the first AD's that offered it. Curry didn't like it, so he left for UK.

I'm sure the next thing I'll hear in this thread is the ole' "brick story." However, and I heard this from players and coaches on that staff, how on earth the glass broken was on the outside of the Athletic Building and not in the coach's office is something that logic can answer, easily.

For the record, I don't "hate" Bama's fans, players or coaches. I just hate(d) losing to them all those years and seeing our hopes and dreams dashed on the Bama rocks year after year. As far as the relationship between Mac and the Bear, yes they thought the world of each other off the field but on the field they were the most intense foes, as we as fans should be. But year after year Mac would ask the Bear to change the scheduling so that we wouldn't have to play them the week after Ole Miss and the Bear would refuse, telling him, "I've got you just where I want you and I'm keeping you there." And Bama would always play some pansy or have an open date the week before they played us. Bear was AD and each school made their own schedules back then. Now the conference makes up the conference scheduling so that is why it is different. At that time you knew you were going to play your conference games the same weekend each year and there was no rotating schedule.
And because of that history, I have the feelings I do as stated in my previous post. So off the field, I have no animosity towards Bama or any other team or their fans. But when it comes time to tee it up, I seethe with ill feelings for them.

Man, you guys need to give each other a group hug. All of this rage and hostility can't be good for you.

Even though we are having an excellent year,(in spite of sanctions) it will drop off a good bit next year because of youth.

Starting in '07, the playing field will be pretty much even.
Wait a minute! That's what is eating at some of ya'll. Getting paranoid about having to deal with us on even footing?

LSU tigers are always a respected foe, unlike the red headed step children at THE SCHOOL DOWN THE ROAD.
