A few weeks ago on one of my Oregon info posts, I had been running on about Oregon history I think, a member responded to my post with the question, "So, Oregon isn't a part of Canada?". I'm afraid that mirrors most Oregonian's knowledge about your region. To most of us, Louisiana is a foreign culture in a foreign land. Turns out, you're just like people.
Culturally, Louisiana is three states. North Louisiana is Baja Arkansas. The same upland south culture that stretches from Texas to Virginia. Baptist, English heritage, country cookin' and country music, NASCAR. South Louisiana is Cajun country. Displaced French Canadians, Catholics, Cajun cookin' and cajun music, swamp people. New Orleans is Creole country. Caribbean/African/Spanish heritage. Mostly Catholic but Voo Doo and God knows what else. Creole cooking is different from Cajun cooking. Jazz music. Black people.
When the wagon trains were lined up out on the Oregon trail, that's where they were going. To Oregon. The tough ones made it. The ones who started whining and bitching and wanting to fire their coach, I mean wagonmaster, the first time something went wrong are still out there on the prairie somewhere. How's that! :miles:
hey everyone, new to the forums.. but im going to get right down to business. I'm not getting why more than half the people who are going to watching this game from either arlington or at home, are basing oregon will win this game just on lamichael james, darren thomas, and barmers.. not mentioning they have introducing fresh faces to the o-line, replacing the d-line and a few extras at the db position.. if im wrong tell me please. JLEE will do more than what everything thinks he will. His confidence, character and outstanding loyalty to his school and team will prevail him in this game and therefore will have a great season. I think are running backs are underrated in spencer ware, michael ford, and alfred blue. these have the capability of what any top running back core there is in the country! Our defense will be will in fact in my faith stop the run and make darren thomas stay in the pocket and go to the air attack.. By all means i respect you Oregon Ducks and fans, but we are a much better team than last year. Goodluck to both teams and i will be eating duck for dinner! :geaux:
Makes me think back to your post of a couple of months ago which contained this same information. Looking back, I laugh at my preconceived expectations. When I joined this site I was braced and ready, thought I was in for a tussle. I expected having heated arguments with mean drunk, Larry the cable guys. I see a swagger with new visiting Duck fans, it vanishes quickly when they see how nice you are. This is a great place.
Pioneers on the Oregon trail reached a fork in the road. One sign said, "Oregon", and had an arrow pointing to the north. One sign had pictures of gold nuggets painted on it, and an arrow pointing towards California. Those who could read went north.
We try to be. Everyone has their unreasonable fans, but this place is full of knowledgeable sports people and they love some good natured ribbing. Your are one of those good fans and we are glad to have you. Even after the game stick around because our schedule will be interesting this year.:thumb:
:thumb: I like it. I had a history of the northwest professor that use to say. "When the settlers headed West and came to the fork in the road with one sign pointing to Oregon and the other to California, the ones that could read the sign went to Oregon.
