Thoughts on the game and out come. First my prediction, LSU 27 Oregon 13. Potential goes from a 47-7 blowout by LSU similar to our destruction of Va Tech to LSU losing 31-13.

That depends on LSU's state of mind after the last 2 weeks Are they mad, determined & united or are they suffering from catastrophe syndrome and ready for the next shoe to fall? What is the leadership on the field going to be like? That is the big unknown and we will only find out Saturday. Absent that I think LSU will be a better team primarily defined by the OL & DL.
I think our d line should be much superior to Oregon's O line and we have the potential to shut them down. A young O line with so many first time starters will be a liability. Remember Auburn beat us because their O line had 4 seniors and had played together for years. I believe we will break them down even more that Fairly did in the NCG. If the D holds together we will hold them to 3 scores no matter what our offense does (except for turnovers that give Oregon a short field).
Likewise I believe our O line is experienced and deep and should control them. Our running should control the game. I would rather have both JL & JJ available. That would prevent Oregon from focusing on one style. I hope that Krag's coaching them up shows on the field and JL is solid. If he is, that provides the potential for LSU to blow out Oregon.
To prevent a loss we need to not have bad things happen early. If we withstand the beginning of the game I believe our talent will win out.
We have the potential to have a damn strong team and if we have the want we will have a special season.

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers ! Whoever wins the turnover battle probably wins the game. Enter mo and tyrann stage left. Both these guys are turnover magnets. Pp7 took these guys under his wing and have passed the torch to them.
Lee must throw the ball well. If lee throws no interceptions LSU wins. If Thomas and the ducks are able to run like cam or hit the big passes like Arkansas were toast.
The way to keep these big plays from happening is to bust that asz. Lots of the ducks are playing their first college game. Many are starting their first game but played some last year. The tigers need to bust the pluck out of these ducks and really quack them up. Power is LSU's advantage. The ducks are just as fast. We need to be sec tough and mean as hell. The freak is going to pluck their center up. I can't wait !

Actually I switched to direct TV a couple of weeks ago and didn't realize that the free NFL package excluded preseason games. Direct also doesn't catch CST. But according to the forums I'm not missing anything.

    But thanks for 'fixing it'

I like CST just because of all the LSU coverage, i.e. old games, etc. Living in Oklahoma it's very difficult to watch games. Sometimes have to find them online, but that'll be harder now that the FBI has shut down all the sites.

All the knowledgeable people I talk to here in Athens think that LSU will win this easily. I have to factor for the SEC homer effect, but I still think that LSU just has too much talent and the players want to make up for the stupid and costly distraction of the last two weeks.

Now they can DO something about it. I think they'll win by more than a touchdown.

Saints went with 3rd string QB and back up WRs and it was a dropped pass, turnover festival. Every paying fan should get a full refund.

Thanks for the update SabanFan. I'm glad preseason is over. I can't wait for the GB/N.O. show-down next thursday. (But I guess I should save that for a thread in the Saints' forum.)

    in the mean time....

I must add that this is not to say that Oregon is not a great team with a great coach. They are for sure and it will be a mighty struggle, but in the end size and depth will win this game. I'm 62. I've watched this game for a few seasons. The Tigers will eventually wear the Ducks down.

I've been to Oregon. I've been to Eugene. My niece lives in Eugene. My best friend from Vietnam was the son of the mayor of Tigard. Oregon is just as redneck and rough and tumble as anywhere in the South. Oregonians are the coonasses of the West coast and I love y'all.

But I think LSU is bigger, faster, deeper and they will prevail.

I think that you will own the West coast for some time to come. You may win a NC in the near future, but there has to be almost as much luck as talent for that to happen.

Well, good luck to everybody and I hope we can come out of this without too many injuries.

    FINALLY!
