He's got decent speed....can he catch? He should at least be able to run the right routes--you would think he knows them all anyway.
What is up with the play calls? Why can't we go down the field with our fast wide receivers? Georgia went down field on us all day, why didn't we try it? Our biggest plays where our dump passes to Addai and we aren't going to be able to rely on that for very long.
We didn't go down field much because our QB's were running for their lives immediately after the snap much like Gawga in last years SECCG. Neither QB had much of a chance to look down field because they were getting hit before the receivers got 5 yards down field. The OL really stunk up the place today.
As of right now, Russell needs to get all the game experience he can get. In addition, Matt Flynn needs to see some reps when possible -- late in the games we should win. With the way the offensive line is playing right now, it really does not matter who is in there though. At this point, it is about letting the freshman quarterbacks get their feet wet and have their struggles this year and not next year. I personally still support Randall but it has been frustrating to see him panic when under pressure. As a senior, I would expect better composure out of him. I wish it were possible for him to shine but I just can't see it now. I mentioned in another thread that Russell panics sometimes as well BUT he does show some ability at times to escape. The more he plays, the better he will become at handling the pressure. <end of another rambling post>
Yes, but remember that play when Russell hit Davis to put us in FG range at the end of the first half? Why didn't we try some plays like that? If we did try some more plays like that the OL didn't even have to block the QB would have the ball out of his hands in about 2 seconds.
