Urban Meyer's speaking tour through Florida produced this gem: "I'll tell you, when you get 58,500 at your spring game, that's something else. Miami, and that team out west, and that team up in Knoxville, and that team in Athens, Georgia, all combined didn't get 58,500 for their spring games — that shows the power of Florida football."

The power of Florida football? Nope. Maybe the desperation of Florida fans. What team out west?

It's been picked up by all the Tennesse and Georgia papers and given the appropriate spin. Blood in the water and media days are still 8 weeks off! The SEC media may just have found new fodder for Spurrier. This is how DiNardo got off about spouting the "T" word!

The team out west is FSU.

The thing about Spurrier is he could really back it up with w's on the field. Meyer proved himself in the WAC, a far cry from the SEC. I would love to see a guy who puts it out there so much with his talk get the crap kicked out of him. There's not a humble bone in meyer's body.

Meyer is talking as if he really has done something already and it annoys me.

He plays this arrogant attitude by not referring to Georgia as that team somewhere (he says a direction whatever it is) and FSU the same way.

Grow up and just say the names.

    Good lord

    But wait...

The Gators did win their Spring Game. Meyer's first W.

And the results column on their schedule proves it!

    Spring Game April 9, 2005 ......... W (34-28)

It would have been horrible if Meyer would have lost his first game.

Not to be picky, but Utah is in the Mountain West Conference, not the WAC.

I have a feeling that UT (which I think gets first-crack at UF come the season) will give him his first dose of "humble pie".
