Please, give me one, just one, example of how coaching in the NFL is comparable with college football. Whats to compare, your theory was, 7 games over .500 ='s, not a good enough coach for the Gumps. :nope: Current coach, 2 games below .500 ='s, Great coach for the Gumps. But just for you, comparing NFL to College. They both put their players on the field, and coach to the best of their abilty, trying to win games. Your coach, is 2 below .500 in this scenerio. If we were too compare, the overall character of the 2 coaches, (NFL or College) well I just don't have the time, to break out my Texas Instruments calculater, to extrapolate just how far below .500 your coach would rate. :thumb:
I don't hate Saban, but, I do say that he is a Quitter. Nick Saban left LSU for the NFL Dolphins. Two years later, he left the Fins and went back to coaching college. Saban did so, because his character and psychological make-up did not allow him to face the adversity of turning aroung the Fins. Alabama was the best job available to Saban when he ran away from the Fins. Alabama is a good job for a good coach in a great conference, and Bama has great fans (they beat their chests and brag like Englishmen, but, we have beaten such men before and will do so again). Saban did not leave LSU for Bama. If the LSU job was available on 3 Jan 07, Saban would again be the LSU coach. When you think about it . . . it was a kind of weird series of events that brought Saban back to the SEC. First, if Prothro doesn't get injured, Shula is not fired. Second, if Ricky Williams plays to his potential, Saban has more success in Miami, and probably doesn't leave them. Third . . . well, you get the idea. You can't get terribly upset at the strange turn of events. You can't get mad at the Bama fans. You can't get madder at Saban (because he quit the Fins, not LSU). I say "madder" because you might still be mad at him for leaving LSU for the Fins.
Therein is one of the biggest distinctions. In the NFL you don't have the options of putting "your players" on the team." Think about it. How many players were "Saban's players" in Miami?
