'The Spread' vs 'The Run and Shoot'

    Completely agree. And I would definitely use that point when recruiting against teams that run it. Name a 'spread' or 'RNS' QB to make it in the pros? I may be overlooking someone, but can't think of any. Even Spurrier's Fun-N-Gun offenses never produced a viable NFL QB.

    The difference to me is that the Spread utilizes a running QB and a TE while the Run and Shoot does not.

    You may be on to something. Didn't he go to BYU? I think they ran a heavy pass oriented offense, but I'm not sure it had a label like 'RNS',etc.

    BYU ran the spread. In fact Lavell Edwards has often been referred to as the father of the spread.

    What about Donovan McNabb at Syracuse? What did they run ?

    I think they ran the option.

    The random thing about that team wasMarvin Harrison was his WR. They used to crank out some talent up there.

    yep they ran the option. he almost committed to tom osbourne @ Nebraska. that would have been some pretty insane numbers.
