I don't know why such a simple question riled you up. I read 99's post and felt that Flynn was losing ground in the QB race. Then I heard Schneider and thought that maybe it wasn't so obvious. I just wondered which opinion was closer to the truth. Now, I'm more confused: http://www.acadiananow.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050417/SPORTS/504170362/1006
Bet even some of the players and coaches are confused since this was a scrimmage and stats can be totally misleading, especially the TD's since from what I've heard most came when the Tigers were in the Redzone part of the scrimmage. Hopefully both will be working their tails off during the offseason and the competition will really heat up in the fall with both guys playing so good it will make the decision very hard. SabanFan, pity you for making such an innocuous statement/question. If it doesn't go along with others opinions and raises some doubt you should simply dismiss it so as to not ruffle feathers.
My favorite part of that article is this: "Oh my God," said Russell, who signed with Hill in 2003. "Amp is really coming along. He's been working extremely hard, and I've been trying to push him. If Amp wouldn't have gotten hurt I feel like he would've been that fourth guy. He's not quite where he was, but he's getting there." Second favorite part is this: ...Xavier Carter with eight catches for 67 yards and an 87-yard kickoff return... ---------------------- With level heads and no injuries, this season could be VERY VERY fun to watch. I'd love to watch X. Carter fly down the field so fast that the announcers don't even have time to yell "did you see that??!?!" before the extra point is kicked... This guy has something to prove and I can't wait till he does... He is ridiculously fast. I remember the throw from flynn in the miss state game for a touchdown...he caught it, turned and broke a tackle and was GONE. running down half the field in like 3 seconds... it was so sick... man why can't college football start... tomorrow? :bncry:
Something else I was thinking about form the scrimmage yesterday. There was one blocked punt in the scrimmage and they came close on a couple more. I am not used to seeing that out of LSU - a lot of pressure on the opposing punter.
When he gives multiple responses to the same post by one person and is obviously trying to be a nuisance............... nevermind.....
damn, STILL more drama.. good golly, I think some people on this board should really get over themselves... correcting grammatical errors... saying someones opinion is wrong...whatever... get over it... this forum is to talk LSU right?, not to bitch and whine and have petty little internet arguments. who here is ready to see x. carter fly down the field? I sure am...
I was unable to find the DC on the field. LM appeared to be very studious and taking notes. Did anyone happen to notice what the DC Bo P. was doing?
yes! more football talk! well.. I wish I could tell you, however I was not there. I dont see him in any of the pictures though.
It doesn't sound like anybody here was overly impressed with the running game. I was hoping to hear alot more than, "impressive" and not many people on here have really praised them. Where expectations just rediculously high? What's going on?
A lot of DC's like to watch the games from the pressbox. I know you have construction going on at the stadium, so they might not have been available, but he could have been somewhere to get a higher view. Also, just an outsiders opinion, but I dont think it was warrented to jump all over Saban Fan's case for his comments about the QB's. If you take out the touchdown and interceptions, the two quarterbacks are very very similar. As someone pointed out, it was a controlled scrimmage to its not like they each had 5 chances to drive the team down field. Different players got the chance at different points on the field. When the coaches are looking back on this. They will not watch the film all the way through. They will break it down by situation. They will have their video crews compile all of the "3rd and longs", and the "3rd and shorts", and so on. This will give them a better idea of which quarterback is better in certain situations. I think SF was right to ask if anybody thought Matt Flynn looked more comfortable.
