Re: Georgia closes practices to prevent Alabama from Spying Another article on this from AP on SI: Richt weary of Alabama spies, closes practice access http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/ncaa/09/18/richt.bulldogs.ap/index.html
Re: Georgia closes practices to prevent Alabama from Spying I wonder if saban being back in the conference is why our coaches changed their signals this year?
Re: Georgia closes practices to prevent Alabama from Spying Is it possible LSU benefited from stolen signals while under Saban? Our defense sure seemed to on top of a lot of plays and many times the opposing offense looked silly because LSU would bring a full out blitz at some very good times. I don't think we were stealing signals but I guess it could be possible. With Saban, I don't know if I would be that surprised.
Re: Georgia closes practices to prevent Alabama from Spying I believe this is pretty common. It's obviously rampant in professional sports. Just look at all the precautions you see on TV with gloves and paper covering the mouth when communicating a sign or play. It's very competitive, just look at the fun Bama and Tennessee have had in recent years. Makes for good drama.
Re: Georgia closes practices to prevent Alabama from Spying C'mon, we know Saban better than that. If he was going to steal signals, his anal retentive azz wouldn't have waited til the week of. Closing practices this week is too late, he already has 'em. Speaking of "Stealing" signals, Jimbo was telegraphing our plays. One of the changes with Crowton is the our Oline's stance doesnt' tip the defense. Under Jimbo, our Oline's stance indicated pass/rush- Crowton is mixing it up. It's the "Little" things that separate good coaches from great ones.
Re: Georgia closes practices to prevent Alabama from Spying So what do you think about all the Georgia drama about spying? Do you think it's about Saban or just a coincidence? Or is it just Georgia wanting to focus big time because they are 0-1 and cannot afford to lose another SEC game?
Re: Georgia closes practices to prevent Alabama from Spying I think practices should be closed for both reasons. Opening them is great cause the kids will "Practice" harder with people watching them but there's just too much on the line these days. Not only important for focus but having them open is an invitation for trouble- not only "Stealing" but NFL agents, etc.
Re: Georgia closes practices to prevent Alabama from Spying So you think in Georgia's case it's more about timing and not about any one school or coach?
Re: Georgia closes practices to prevent Alabama from Spying I have no information to make any such conclusive statement. I gave my reasons as to why I thought it was best to "Close" practices. As far the thread topic, I've already said that if Saban wanted to get signals, he'd already have them.
