The SEC as a whole is unreal...not just the west. Throw in names like Spurrier, Richt, Meyer, and even Fulmer...(he does have an NC, ya know)...added to the previously mentioned west coaches, and it's really unbelievable!

I agree that Nutt is a good coach and is underestimated by many.
But he brings a lot of the off field problems on himself. Maybe with the Ole Miss alumni and school administration it will be different. If not, he may find him self in the same situation he was in at Arkansas.

By the way, lots of Arkansas folks are already calling in to sports talk radio in Memphis wanting the Mazlin (sp??) (coach originally from Springdale who left Arkansas when his players left) to come back to Arkansas as OC.
Sounds like they want to keep the problems going even after they ran Nutt our of town.

There is a lot of turnover in the west. Saban at 6-6 and Petrino 0-0. Nut has proven he can win in the SEC, but you never know what happens in a new job. Saban is most likely the toughess of these coaches. The point here is someone said, can't remember who, "If you are still here 5 years from now we will get to know you better." Something like that. I will hold judgement on how tough things will be.

    LSU - Miles
    Auburn - Tubberville
    Alabama - Saban
    Arkansas - Petrino
    Ole Miss - Nutt
    Miss. St - Croom

    I'll expand.

    East:
    Florida - Meyer
    Tennessee - Fulmer
    Georgia - Richt
    Kentucky - Brooks
    Vandy - B. Johnson
    S. Carolina - Spurrier

Of the 12 coaches in this league, 8 of them have had experience winning their division in the SEC.

Of the 12 coaches in this league, 7 of them have won conference championships in the SEC.

Of the 12 coaches in this league, 5 coaches have won national title (if you count 13-0 Auburn's season in 2004 as a split, which I do), but if not, then 4 coaches have won the national title, with Miles getting set to coach in the big game.

It really looks to me like we have too many Bulls in the same pasture. Someone is going to get hooked fighting for their share. I just don't see everyone making the cut.:milesmic:

you're absolutely right. with this many egos and only 12 teams, someone will have to finish 9th, or someone will have to finish 8th.

Will they be able to handle that when it happens? I don't think Petrino will be able to, being he just quit on a team for the mere fact that they were 3-10.

Worse, is the fan base will not be able to stand it. Remember Saban did the same thing. He could not stand getting his butt kicked every weekend.:milesmic:

I definitely agree there will be some casualties of war with this many high profile generals on the battlefield.

I think you're already seeing it in the East, with Fulmer on the hot seat before he was able to luckily make it to the SEC CG. I think Meyer and Richt are the only 2 safe coaches on that side of the bracket. Look for Spurrier to retire in a couple of seasons as well.

In the west, Petrino will be gone after 2009. His teams will barely make it to 6-6, and that won't satisfy his huge ego. He will quit again.

I really think Tubberville will be the other casualty with Saban's success running him out of the SEC.

I would imagine that there is an inverse relationship between higher salaries and integrity amongst most coaches. not exactly but close. I'll rank them least to most.

saban #2 only behind #1 petrino on gutlessness. maybe a tie.

#3- tuberville is scum but the two rodents above have detracted our attention from that fact.

#4- fulmer is a rat whose cheese is alabama and krispy kremes. cant really blame him for either actually.

#5- miles lied to okie st and to us about that bs call yesterday to UM so hes no saint.

#6- meyer is a crybaby who plays his convicts in important games.

#7- nutt is simply certifiably insane much like miles.

#8- speaking of crybabies, win your division mark richt.

#9 croom- hates his racist alumni. who can blame him?

#10 spurrier- you cant spell pure w/o spurrier. he doesnt belong on this list.

#11 brooks- think I saw him on msnbc investigates. need to verify before moving him up.

#12 johnson-he coaches academic football players. cant be half-bad. also put up with jay cutler's dad, the stalker, for 4 years. pretty impressive.

therefore by default, bobby johnson is the only one with integrity with maybe the exception of darth visor. i have suspicions brooks is a closet pedophile.
