The Plainsmen sounds like a bad Vegas lounge act.

Proud Tiger, don't really know, guess the point I am trying to make is that when you see LSU, you know exactly who it refers too. When I see AU or UA I am not sure who the heck they are talking about, partly due to my own ignorance but I really don't follow all the teams close enough to know whether they are an AU or UA. I am not sure about Auburn, Bama, Arizona, Alcorn and any other college that starts with an A. And you guys have it much better than the M guys and the MSU ones also. But it seems like every other major school has at least one other that shares their inititals but us.

I think AU is Auburn in most people's minds. The MSU's are not really confusing. In the SEC parts, MSU means Mississippi State in the rest of the country MSU means Michigan State.

I'm pretty sure University of Memphis has a live tiger mascot as well. I'd have to look into it more, however.

Well, Stanford is technically Leland Stanford University. But they would never dare use the acronym because we OWN it in the public mind.

There are only three schools better known by their acronyms than their full names. LSU, UCLA, and MIT.

Nice try but no cigar (ooops better not go there). Actually Auburn did have a tiger in a cage years ago, before LSU did but since most our big games were away in those days it got to be to expensive and too much trouble to haul the tiger to the games. Also since Auburn was founded several years before LSU, we have first choice of mascots over our little brother

Just kidding around so don't use all your bullets in response :hihi:
