if we are going to mock the religion of peace, perhaps you should help us be clear about what is up with christianity as well. if it turns out i wont go to hell, i would like to hear about it.

How is that relevant to a discussion of Islamic extremism? Your finding of Christians to be extremist has little to no relevance to the conversation -- that's your strawman.

i never said islamists were not extreme. i am not tearing down any strawmen. islamists are terrible. i am not saying islam is somehow not terrible because christianity is terrible.

i am pointing out that every religion has extremists. i do not agree that all muslims are bad. like christianity, islam has nice fellows and terrorists. we shouldnt bomb either indiscriminately.

ahab here claims that islam is a violent religion by nature, and that the others are only violent when they misconstrue the religion. that is wrong. all religions allow for interpretations that cause violence.

i didnt bring it up. the question was asked:

my answer is that Christianity sends disbelievers to hell to burn for all eternity. how is that so different that what the claim is about islam? is your claim that Christianity is not similar in that is punishes the infidels?

This is deep misunderstanding on your part. The idea is not that Christians are gleefully sending unbelievers to hell.

The point is that if Christ was the Son of God then the unbelievers have rejected the Son of God and there is no other place to put them.

Kind of like if you drop something it falls to the ground. That is just the way it is...there is nothing that kind be done about it.

The central question is whether or not Christianity is true or not. You have to answer that question first and then take care of the rest.


But back to the subject at hand. Iran is not a threat to the US. The US should stay out of the Middle East and let them settle their own scores.

i imagine that since martin doesnt believe any of it, it is more relevant what most christians believe, not what may be the actual dogma.
