Considering our season, and the things that fell apart for us... the Peach isn't all bad, could've been worse.
its not that bad ... i wish i could get stationed there ... of course i am in razorback country which could be a good reason why ... ill be home in bastrop for this game ... hope they can pull it off
Re: The Official LSU vs. GT thread Indeed, sir. It shall start 1 week before the game and not a moment sooner.
Check out this video clip. It shows three plays from the Georgia vs Georgia Tech game: 1st, it shows Stafford throwing a pick six 2nd, it shows a long TD run by GT where four Georgia defenders can make the tackle for a short gain. Two guys (one of them being blocked) completely miss. #99 is too slow, and #33 has the tackle, but he doesn't wrap him up. 3rd, it shows another long TD run by GT where two Georgia defenders can make the tackle, the first guy can only get one arm on him, and the second guy just tries to body-check him out of bounds instead of trying to make the tackle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-pI3S_IEF0# Pick sixes and poor tackling are things LSU has been struggling with as well.
I think alot of people here are writing off the tigers a little bit too soon. We have been VERY good against the run. And we were very good against the run against SEC teams. GT IS NOT an SEC team by NO means. Our Defense has a large number of seniors playing their last college game. Not only do they have the team to play for, they also have the future girth of their wallets to consider. After this game, it's the draft and whatever the future holds after that. Too bad we're not playing Notre Dame. I'd love to give fatazz Weiss one more azz spanking before he gets fired at the end of next year. View attachment 11562 Oh yeah, in case anyone has forgotten, we're still the National Champions, at least for a few weeks more.
LSU wins this game purely on emotion. Assuming (and granted it is a huge assumption) we have enough starters who will want to send the current coaching staff out (another assumption) with a win. Tennessee players did it for Phil Fulmer against Kentucky and last years unranked Michigan team did it for Lloyd Carr against #9 Florida in the Capitol One bowl. We will not win if it comes down to coaching. IMO three extra weeks of practice won't help us much with the current staff. Our best hope is that the players have been reading the headlines. That they each do some soul searching. We can win if they decide to leave it all out on the field. We are  the DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!! :geaux:
I think the two teams match up pretty well. Strength to strength, weakness to weakness. GT has the home field advantage. But GT has been playing at peak, it seems to me. Maybe even playing a tad over their heads. LSU, on the other hand, has been underperforming on defense. And the quarterback position has the potential to make enough of an improvement to be significant (i.e. no turnovers for touchdowns). So - if LSU remains constant or actually shows up flat - GT rolls us up. However, if LSU shows up to play for pride - for number 8, as Miles says, then this could be an outstanding start to the 2009 season. I think the defense shows up in this one. My only worry is QB.
Going off past history, LSU has been ready to play in bowl games. The triple option is tricky to stop especially when you have better than Navy/Air Force/Army talent running it. Their QB make good decisions in the running game. The passing game is somewhat suspect, but if the defense over commits to the run it can lead to big plays. However, LSU should have enough time to prepare to stop this offense. LSU should by 3-7 points only due to the continued trouble from the QB position.
