Since you asked...Let me preface this by saying I love Justin Vincent. He's a great young man and if it weren't for him LSU wouldn't have won the 2003 national championship. That being said, I'm of the opinion that Justin has poor field vision. How many times have you seen JV run up the back of his blockers where the play was designed to go? Numerous times. If the hole is there, which in 2003 with that O-line the holes were often there for long times (football time), then JV goes through it no problem at all but he has difficulty seeing the openings developing in other places. You look at Shyrone Carey in comparison to JV - Shy has great field vision and can make the cutback or see the corner break containment too far in and sprint to the corner, Justin has trouble "seeing" that. You combine the vision problem with him being a little heavier as Tirk said, some fumbleitis, lost confidence and this O-line not being as good as 2003...you have a JV who isn't performing quite to the level as he did as a freshman. But, JV plays hard and has been a stalwart on special teams and is a model player. I also agree with many others who think he will have a great game Saturday on the Georgia Dome turf. JV is a turf runner - he just excels on the artificial stuff. So, I do look for him to see quite a few carries against Georgia.
Get him to run a 40 now, and I GUARANTEE it would be around the same as in 03... He comes off as "slower" because as the other poster said, he is indecisive as to where to go, because of bad field vision
oh, so I didn't watch football in 03? I was at more of those games than you think... Yeah... 2003... back when Tirk had a life... he didn't have a billion posts yet...
I feel good about Vincent this Saturday as he seems to be running better and better the last few games with good power and conviction, and probably confidence. Since Addai is hurt (a real darn shame), we also need Carey who has to step up. He also may end up with good performance this Saturday on turf. And how about Jacob Hester? They seem to be underutilizing him ,and he is a good runner. ________ Hot Penny Stocks
I think Vincent was just in a slump. I don't think he's lost a step at all. I mean, everyone gets in 'em, just look at Tiger Woods. All Vincent needs is what he's done the last few games....and thats score a few TD's and get some confidence back. The guy is a good player and he's just a little rusty. I think he'll break 100 this week and he'll shut the mouths of all these critics. GEAUX JUSTIN!!!!
JV is definately slower and bigger these days. And now he has a thigh bruise that will prevent him from being 100% Saturday. Two injured RBs and another in the dog house. Russell better be on his game Saturday.
Nothing is wrong with JV, he's just not the back that some of you thought he was. He had his moments in 2003, but let's not forget how good that offensive line was and as far as the fumbling, he's always had a problem with that. I hope he develops into a fine back, but he's not what some of you might think.
Bingo... we forget he was 4th string for a reason... and Tirk, I won't waste my time with someone who steals someone else's joke... Why don't you make your own name for me and be creative like Grad and Crawfish do
