Was at MadDogs in San Antonio last night gettin my pre Saints groove on and met a bunch of military people stationed at fort sam houston. One was a huge USC fan and talking smack about their 2 national championships. I was pretty quiet until someone said something about me being an LSU fan then he goes into how lucky in 03 crap we were. I said you only one 1 championship, the AP poll is not a championship recognized by most of america just the media. then a Georgia fan came up and joined in (one of his friends) but he got mad at him too, then they went at it and finally the manager came over to us with his Mic and siad over the bars speakers, "We got LSU in the house and he says USC sucks ass". Huge roar in the bar.
Not only that, but the P10 is not weak. I've gotten a fair amount of negative reps for these types of statements, including when I first signed up and said OSU would play us close last year The P10 is a different kind of football, one SEC fans have reluctance to understand or appreciate, but it is just as good. Their athletes are as good, their coaches are as good, and their heart is as strong. There may be a little less depth from conference top to conference bottom, but that only plays out when you have a multitude of injuries.
My, my. It sure is funny, isn't it? Last Tuesday our sky was falling. Les was jobless, and we would have been SO much better with Urban. Now Florida's sky is falling, Urban is jobless, and UF will never play competetive football again. Looks like both coaches had a bit more adjusting to SEC play to do than they realized. And it looks like both sets of fans were a bit too quick to absolve their coach from those adjustments, and equally too quick to want to fire said coach. Sure, that UT comeback loss was unbearably hard to swallow. But imagine what getting absolutely obliterated, what having their savior HCs vaunted and feared offensive system get laughed completely off the field is doing to the Gaytor 'faithful.'
I'm hoping this site is a joke. Surely Florida fans can't be that short-sighted. They will never be happy with another coach again if they are already calling for Meyer's head. My guess is this is one nut who saw how wildly successful and famous fireronzook.com was and is trying to cash in on the new one as early as he can.
Apparently, they are calling for his head. Hell, imagine what it would have been like over here if we would have gotten smoked like that.
I really think that Florida State would give them the best run for their money right now. The FSU defense is very fast and aggresive. That is exactly what it will take to beat USC. I definately think that they are beatable, but it will take the right team to do it. I don't think that Cal is good enough or even up to the task, but perhaps in a NCG matchup. As far as Florida goes, again, Zook didn't leave as much talent as Gator fans think he did. Too many Juco academic fall offs and early NFL departures to give the Gators very much depth and impact players.

For those of us who watched Zook recruit, and saw what happened with those recruits, it was just a matter of time before the Florida depth and key position issues were exposed. Florida doesn't have the defense to be a top 10 team. And the Florida offense can be effectively neutralized by a strong defense. Florida is a good team, but not a great team. I picked them to take second in the SEC East. LSU probably has to beat Florida to win the SEC West. Florida probably has to beat LSU to win the SEC East. That game should be interesting.
