Man, some folks wouldn't be happy if Skip had hired a clone of John Wooden and Coach K with a little Adolph rupp thrown in for good measure. First, he didn't put any assistants in place although he did reccomend Blair, which is a tremendous fit according to Coach M.

Second, if he would have held all of his interviews in complete secrecy guys like you would have been complaining that he was conducting the search that way in order to make it easier to name himself as the coach.

So easy to dismiss the coaches who are doing a great job. Pokey and Miles must give credit for any success they had to Saban and Sue G., Skip didn't know what the hell he was doing by bringing them in even though both had spectacular seasons.

You obviously do not follow the track program at all to make a statement like that, so it isn't even worth debating you there. And no one is better than Pat Henry at LSU, but he left. shaver will do a great job and may even come close to matching Henry but win some SEC titles to go along with the national ones.

I didnt say that he hired Brady that was in responce to the statement that our major sports were headed towards mediocracy. Pat Henry had accomplished everything he wanted and LSU and was leaving anyway. I just dont understand the whole skip bashing he has not hurt LSU athletics yet. The only sport not living to expectations is baseball and he just fixed that. As for the football season last year you can throw that out we went to the SEC championship game thats pretty strong, not to mention the what the team went through last year. I personally believe that he has done a pretty good job.

I don't think Skip has done a bad job, you also have to consider that he walked in when FB was winning it big. FB carries this school, when it does bad, everyone feels it.

Put it this way, i don't like how Skip conducts himself. He runs a multimillion program like its his own personal small-time business. He tries to go cheap way too much. If LSU is such a great place, why was it so hard for FB or BB to get a coach to leave a good school to come here? It's b/c of Skip being cheesy on the financial side when meeting the candidates. What else could it be? Well it's something if not that.

He wants the fans to pay, but he doesn't want to pony up the money. Take for example how he needled Saban with cell phone bills, trying to renegotiate parts of his contract. Are you kidding me? Considering what Saban has built and how much money has been brought in. That's why Saban blackballed him one last time when leaving, and didn't give him a headsup to Skip. Not that Skip would have pulled $2million out of the pocket to pay Spurrier when all of this mess first got brought up, back in that Nov.

And if anyone was paying attn. the week of the Final Four, when asked about Tryus on a Tuesday press conference, Brady said "Skip was happy that we didn't have to spend the money on travel to recruit him". So i guess that applies to other potential recruits nation wide? geez

We'll see, but to say Skip's money handling doesn't affect LSU sports, you're fooling yourself.

Do you really believe Skip is the only person who makes the kind of decisions you are speaking of? That the president, taf and board of supervisors just go along with everything he says instead of of dictating to him the guidelines?

No way he has that kind of autonomy.

that's why they put a hault to him taking over the coaching job, he's made a lot of iffy decisions. That trip to the Cotton Bowl before the SEC game really irks me. you never know if the players had found out before the game and if it really affected them.

That had nothing to do with the baseball coaching job. They nixed that idea because they did not want him to take over the job on a short term basis, if they thought he would have wanted to coach another 10 years they would have jumped at the chance.

Pokey got Seimone to come here.

Some of the posts on this thread are an example of the reason I disappeared for 3 months.

I find this forum to be the most level headed of all the LSU forums, at least we have many posters on this board who believe in our coaches, admin., players, etc. or at least willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and time before rushing to conclusions. Thank God for them. And the debate can be quite good. Some of the forums are totally under the sky is falling syndrome.

I have a very low tolerance for stupidity.

Is that the best you've got?
