also it was hugely unfair to punish ford for their competence, rewarding their competitors with billions for being morons. ford should have been furious.

Pride, at any other time in our recent history, during any other recession I would agree with you whole heartedly. But as I have said, these were extraordinary measures taken during extraordinary times.

They buy parts from hundreds of other companies that would go under if they lost GM's business.

The furious ones are Toyota, Hyundai, Mercedes, Nissan, Volkswagen, etc. who all would have profited had the worlds largest auto company gone under.

Assuming all of GM evaporated, which it wouldn't...

Furthermore if it did as you claim, the other car companies would pick up the slack and those so called "other companies" would sell to them..

Again, I ask where on earth any of you get an additional 3-5 MILLION jobs lost if not for the GM bailout....

    Prove that shit amigo.

You are right, Ford and Dodge would have packed it in.

3-5 million still does not add up.

Then you didn't bother to read the article I posted yesterday. It clearly states that if the big three were to curb their productions by even 50% it would cost about 2-2.5 million jobs and a 60-100 billion dollar hit to the economy. You are not thinking in terms of how many industries are directly tied to the auto makers.
